@nintendoboy16: Honestly, I have no clue. I thought people liked New Vegas for its deeper/more classic RPG mechanics and story. Not necessarily it's engine; but I don't know.. I don't really know anything about kotor2.

Are all games they like modable? I've never played an Elder Scrolls game because the first person combat didn't look good, but if they modded it to be good, maybe I would try.

Again, I don't know the history of why this is getting you wound up. Is it a known fact that all these Skyrim modders hated the original game or engine? I thought people loved Skyrim. Am I wrong? The Bethesda engine does have a fair bit of jank, but I generally find it enjoyable. Must the two be mutually exclusive? And if people only disliked the story or something, how is modding in a different story bad? I guess I just don't know why you're so worked up.

Show me on the doll where the modders touched you.

Again, point stands, you hate a game that much, why play it JUST for mods? I think you all influenced paid mods (Creation Club) more than you realize.

Doesn't it matter if they hate the characters, the mechanics, the story, the combat or something else? If they like the engine, and mods allow them to make it appealing to them, why shouldn't they do it? I don't understand what you're getting at.

They misspelled StarCraft. And beyond that, completely omitted it! List is broken.

I love SMB3. Great in every way, and had the coolest announcement ever with the The Wizard. But better than Diablo 2? Kiss my ass! Then you have Shadow of the Colossus, easily one of the most overrated games ever, beating World of Warcraft? I don't really even like WoW, but between the two, WoW is the actual colossus.

I've heard a lot of defense for Wind Waker over the years, but not a lot of "it's my favorite". I can't say the same for Halo CE. Although, people incorrectly seem to prefer Halo 3. And Portal 2 beating Super Metroid? Again, Portal is a good game, but better than Super Metroid? I don't think so.

I also hate how gullible I am to consistently fall for these bait lists/brackets. Say 'X' is better than 'Y' and get instant engagement. I really am just a dumb monkey.

As far as Ocarina goes, I've tried to play it twice, but the battery in the cartridge was dead, and I couldn't save.

@mrbojangles25: 100%. They aren't even close to consistently delivering 4k, and are already blathering about 8k? Ok🙄. Our whole world seems to be rushing towards things that are not yet feasible. I mean how high profile bombs, or games that take years before they're stable are people gonna endure? We need to slow down and be more practical.

This article almost sounds apologist in tone, like someone is saying "Look, we're sorry for pushing the hardware narrative all these years. It's not the end-all, be-all of gaming, OK?" and I don't think that's accurate lol. Hardware is far from the only component to gaming that matters but it is a significant chunk of it.

Hmmm 🤔, so are you saying they haven't been pushing the hardware narrative the hardest for years now? What would you say they have pushed harder? Maybe my view of this is too myopic, but I feel like I've almost exclusively seen the push for higher framerate, greater resolution, more power, rtx, dlss, etc, well above anything that deals with mechanics or interactivity. But again, maybe my view is one of those 'forest for the trees' kinda scenario, and I'm full of it. But I can't think of anything that has been pushed harder than hardware for visuals.

Been saying it the whole time. Hell, I still don't have a 4k tv, my PC was built in 2012, and my only console is a base PS4. I like great graphics as much as anyone, but not more than a great game. I would take WCW vs NWO over any modern WWE game.

A good game is a good game regardless of 30fps vs 60+fps. The caveat for me is multiplayer and competitive games. That’s where 144+fps comes in.

This is one of the many things I hate about modern multiplayer. Beyond the rampant cheating and the lame ass games, the ability to buy an advantage has never been greater. Video games used to be one of the fairest forms of competition; at least on console. Give everyone the same system and controller, then see who's actually better at the game. If it's not fair, then what's the point?

@mrbojangles25: No doubt. Plus they did the PC version of Halo CE, which the MCC version of CE used as it's framework. Just imagine the state of modern CE if they would've done a proper job from the get go. To me , that's basically unforgivable.

I don't think I've played anything by Gearbox that I've enjoyed. I can't speak for every employee, but they just seem like grifters.

Relic at least had some games I liked.

@HalcyonScarlet: Totally. My malaise started last gen, but this gen hasn't shown me enough to want to buy the new systems. Even though I haven't played a game in years, I'm still here, and still interested in what's going on.

That said, I do really miss playing games. It's not only extremely fun, but it's part of my identity. It's like having part of you ripped out, and then trying to act like everything is normal. It doesn't work. Plus, when I'm happy, I can put more of that out into the world. As opposed to now, where I can only half-ass it.
