Hey guys,
Just wondering what your take on the game is.
How is the online community?
How is the longevity?
Does the fun wear out?
Load times?
Hows the online and offline multiplayer?
Etc.
Im just trying to see if the game is worth $60, even though i enjoyed the demo very much.

The fundamental dissonance i see is rooted by the inability to define "art" as it has subjective interpretations.
To me, there is surly a gap within video games that allow me to personally place some games as art, and others not so.
As i said, i consider Shadow of the Colossus art. Fundamentally, yes, its just a good 'ol video game. However, when i beat it and was done with it, it had accumulated a resounding affect on me. The game forced me to ponder and question the themes of love, friendship, evil, and redemption. The game presented these themes in such a profound manner that is was as evocative as any beautiful film, novel or portrait. The themes were accentuated through the games masterful environment, characters, music, cinematography, etc..
That is why i personally wouldn't consider games like Call of Duty or Resident Evil 5 "art". They are simply a form of entertainment that and nice and fun.
If i may describe this in terms of movie art; if Shadow of the Colossus is like "City of God", for example, then Resident Evil 5 is like "True Lies."

Is art not a form of entertainment?
And, see, that's your interpretation of art. Sure, entertainment CAN be art. We, as humans, have entertainment to serve as a way to enjoyably pass time (to lessen the meandering nature of life); art, on the other hand, CAN surly pass time as well, but it also has the effect of "stopping time"---to allow us to stop and celebrate or contemplate or question aspects of life. As i have said; i believe my movie analogy sums up my feelings about the subject of art vs. entertainment. The fundamental dissonance i see is rooted by the inability to define "art" as it has subjective interpretations.

[QUOTE="director13"]If the new silent hill game uses the move as the flashlight. im sold. I hope they do. I hope for finally a good SH game. To bad Team SIlent is no more :(iPuttyThis sounds great and all, but what about when you turn around? You wouldn't be facing the tv screen anymore. well, character control would be done using the sub controller, while the vision/flashlight would be controlled via the move--kind of like a FPS.
Let's face it. As gamers, we know that the video game industry is quite misunderstood, especially in terms of the breadth of storytelling, atmosphere, and its ability to evoke emotion.
Well, there are many games out there that can be viewed as art. What game does that for you and why?
For me:
Shadow of the Colossus.
The world it created; its subtle yet effective use of brilliant storytelling (almost through silence); the atmosphere created; the docile, and somewhat tragic nature of the giants, the "cinematography" and color tones effectively reflect the nature of the game; the players connection to Agro; and fantastic music in one whole package.
So what game do you consider art (which admittedlyhas very subjective interpretations)
Or if you think this topic is bonkers (yes, i said it), then post why.
Do whatever lol.
