Or get it for half that price at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Xbox-360/dp/B000OLXX86/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1272482074&sr=8-1

I always choose physical media. That way, I can swap with friends, re-sell on Amazon, or just give it away.

All well and good until the wrong game save gets over-written. It's also hard to tell which game saves are which unless you are able to name them yourself.

I'm leaning toward 360 but have some questions. Seems like PS3 might be a better system, but 360 has way more/better games.

Anyway, here's the Q's

1. If I buy the arcade version of 360 what's the disadvantage? Can I do online play? DLC? even save my games?

2. Does the new USB hard drive support firmware update negate those disadvantages?

Thanks for all your help. Seemed like this was a good forum to ask :)

1. the only disadvantage is that you'll need to purchase an additional harddrive at some point, probably sooner than you think. It is best to install your games to the harddrive in order to play them. You can play online, but you'll need a separate wireless adapter if you don't want to run cables. USB harddrives will be limited to a max of 32GB (2 separate 16GB drives).

[QUOTE="UT_Wrestler"][QUOTE="djphelps"] Indignant: The Elcor are far too important to be lumped into an "other" category with the lesser races. Snide: You obviously haven't seen the all-Elcor production of Hamlet.

metroidprime55

Happy response: The funniest part of the game

Exclamation of surprise: There was a all-Elcor production of Hamlet, how do I find this?

In ME1, I think there was an announcement in the elevator about an all-Elcor reproduction of Hamlet (or MacBeth?). I also heard it at one of the various news terminals in ME2.

What, no Elcor?

Sarcastic response: If only he supplied us with an "Other" option...

What, no Elcor?

Disappointed: I guess the Elcor just aren't important enough. Cautious optimism: Maybe it was just an innocent oversight.

New game, new character is the only way to co-op and have it be fun (except for the whole lack of fast-travel for the first part of the game).

The co-op overall was pretty disappointing. If there is too much of a gap between levels, then enemies are either impossible for the lower-leveled character, or too easy for the higher character.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the game - one of the few I got all the acheivements in- I just hope they tweak the co-op for the sequel a bit.

it might be a good thing if its linear, i hate having to spend an hour getting somewhere that i think i need to go, and then having to go back and doing the whole thing over again because i forgot to "talk to someone" before i left, it could be a great game, and they say the battle system will keep you on the edge of your seat, so i think itll be good

That's where I ended up in XII. I just forgot where I needed to go, and jsut wandered around for a while until I got bored. I'm ok with linear. I don't get the whole linear complaint. Take Oblivion, for example. the world is getting spanked by portals spewing demons out, and it is the end of the world as we know it. But, I think I'll spend some time becoming a member of the fighter's guild first. Or maybe, I'll collect a bunch of plants for someone. The non-linearity took away any sense of urgency. Mass Effect, same thing. Don't get me wrong, I love both Oblivion and Mass Effect. But the non-linearity of their natures affects their story.

I use the Wireless adapter and it has never wronged me before. My downloads only take a few minutes (I downloaded two gigs in less than 20 minutes) and I never lag online. I think you're thinking way too much about this, I don't think you'll notice any considerable change in your connection and download speed.

DamianAlexander
Same here. I'm using the original XBOX360 wireless adapter, and it works great. The throttle-point is going to be the speed of your broadband connection. If you have a 100mb Cat5 cable or a 54mb wireless adapter and a 6mb broadband speed, they are both going to be limited to a max speed of 6mb online. I also have a cellphone, cordless phones, microwaves, and a gazillion other pieces of electronics on or near the XBOX, and have never experienced any interference.

I'm using the Masss Effect theme that came 'free' with the Classic version of the game. Schweet! :D

mudfrog
How did you access that one? Are you talking about the original release of the game?
