@olddadgamer: And should in this case for being so tone deaf when making this crud. Especially the project leads and head of studio that pushed this out the door and let it go on so long.

@chuckratm1: If it was "a very good game", then why did nobody buy it? And fI have a strong suspicion that you never played it either, along with the supposed target, "modern" audience and other defenders which has been proven to not exist with this failure.

@simonthekid7: Free Beta population numbers say differently, as it barely got over 2000 concurrent players and dropped off dramatically after that peak. And your solution is for them to entice people to play it by having them spend more money (to get that measly discount)? Oh my, that's rich. You should get a refund on that mail order business degree.

If SONY want's to continue bleeding money on this failure, that is on them. But at the end of the day they have some savvy business guys in the accounting divisions and will put this flop out of its misery, and hopefully the studio as well for losing that much money and wasting so much time on development.

@VooDooPC: Revenue does NOT equal profit. Take an Economics or Business class so you will make less foolish posts in the future.

@Barighm: More factual than the crap you wrote in response, which was actually ALL WRONG and made up - anyone with knowledge of older systems knows this to be true.

@Barighm: Better check your facts Jack as the Saturn did NOT have an internal hard drive...I've owned many over the years. It had an internal memory card and another cartridge you could out in for more storage of game saves...and it is not even compatible with all games. It did have a dial up modem attachment, but it was direct connection, peer to peer gaming - it did not access the Internet for gaming (but could surf the web).

You are also exaggerating the Dreamcast's capabilities greatly. While it was the first console to support true online gaming, it was not done by Ethernet primarily. All the Dreamcast units had a dial up modem, the Ethernet attachment came much later and did not see big adoption rates due to the price and availability of high speed Internet at that time (it was just starting to come around and be affordable). Also only a small portion of games supported it, about 5 if I remember correctly - hardly an industry changer (and the Nintendo GameCube one only supported ONE game - PSO). They most certainly did not have an online marketplace for game purchases like you state, it was just infrastructure for the online gaming. There was no news hub either. You have SOOO much wrong here.

Microsoft did usher in the era of Broadband gaming, whether you like to admit it or not. Just because they weren't the first with the OPTION to have it doesn't mean they weren't the ones who pushed it to be a standard - they had no dial up options on the Xbox whereas both Sega and SONY did which most people used at that time. While Sega was first, they were not responsible for the broad adaptation of it - one because it was a high priced peripheral add-on and the Dreamcast was not widely adopted as Xbox or the PS2. Low numbers do not make for something that changes the industry.

Early PSN is nothing to write home about - it was NOT an integrated system like you claim and was more akin to the SegaNet where it was just minimal networking to match people in games. Xbox took the feature list to the next level by voice integration, Friends list, and a single Gamertag to use across all games on the system. It was many years before SONY caught up in the feature list.

In short, you are delusional for denying that Microsoft was responsible for ushering in the age of Broadband gaming. And what is it with YOU putting out all this fake crap - I can't even call it misinformation just because it is all WRONG.

@rewgle: Yes they did, but Nintendo demanded system parity and wanted Microsoft to effectively build them a version of Live for online play before they would allow the game to be released. Obviously that wasn't going to happen.

@sabredj: Also it seems the majority of the people complaining about the Switch having online MP have no idea why that is the case or how it works.

It was not something they added to the game but rather how the emulator works that makes it possible. On the Switch it treats N64 controller ports as online ports, so the game is still presented in split screen but someone can join the game online as if they were on the couch next to you. So Nintendo did not add online MP to the title, it was only enabled due to the way the N64 emulator works on the Switch...and even then it is just split-screen extended to online players (so screen cheating is still available).

"The Red Rings of Death was an infamous error message born from ball bearings within components cracking..." - Gamespot

"Ball bearings, its all ball bearings these days" - Fletch

Seriously Gamespot, WTF! There are no "ball bearings" in ANY console. It was the solder cracking under the conditions you described, not these phantom "ball bearings" that you wrote about. Do you have any sort of editing or anyone with proper knowledge of the industry and technology to write articles? You should be ashamed!

No surprise that Mr. "Project Ten Dollars" would hold that attitude. He did after all introduce that program to charge second hand buyers to access multiplayer for a mere $10, one of the most hated policies in the industry that died out after he left EA thankfully (and they eventually removed that from all the games which had it initially, though most of those games' servers are now shut down anyway).
