Its up there beside Half life 2 as far as FPS's go!
Call of Juarez Bound in blood!!!!!!!!
Fear 2 is worth a mention as well, i really enjoyed that game and dont understand all the hate!
[QUOTE="dom2000"][QUOTE="blues35301"]Please learn to read. I said i was playing high/very high with 1 8800gtx (heavily overclocked might i add) at 1680x1050...but when i was playing with both cards i could put all the settings at very high except shadows and have a similar frame rate! And even if i was lying (which im not) u think i wudnt have put all the settings at max just to look at the pretty graphics? even though it wud be a slideshow? Lol i know i put the AA to max to see how good it looks! (definitely not worth the performance hit!) AA makes a better difference in motion during smooth framerate for one. As you know jaggies dance a lot while moving. But anyways even "high/veryhigh" with an 8800gtx at that resolution is a stretch...you gotta be playing with post process down on high or something. Its like a 10 frame difference. And turning it on every now and then to see what it looks like isn't playing the game with it. Some of the games open vistas and scenes are prettier than others.... I played and completed Crysis 3+ times with 2 8800 gtx in sli with everything at very high except shadows! How many times do i have to say that? Stop arguing about the performance of a single 8800 gtx....thats what im stuck with now since my other one died...doesnt mean ive forgotten what the game what the game looked like. And yes some "open vistas" do look better than others, espcially that one near the start of Crysis Warhead when the planes fly across! That was slightly jaw dropping the first time i seen it for sure! But ive been spoilt, it no longer impresses me! Lets hope Crysis 2 can make that jaw open again for the first time in an fps in 3 years! (sadly i doubt it...think ill have to wait till Hl2 ep3)Games on 5 year old hardware aren't even close to catching up. And even on their limited scale. I think you're lying about this or playing it on lower than very high. You mentioned "second 8800gtx died" so you're playing it on one 8800gtx and at 1680x1050? I'd say if you're doing very high settings at that res your getting 15 frames a second with that card. Thats just the truth. If you played it at 1280x720 you might be able to get 25-30fps at very high...

Considering there are PC games that consoles couldn't even dream of running... Yes, they are that much better.DragonfireXZ95Theres pc games that only high end pcs can run? Thats news to me! Last time i checked u could turn down the settings and resolution! (psshhh ignore Arma 2 and the total war games...at least give them a chance to argue!)
Umm no i disagree. Apart from a handfull of games, the biggest difference between pc and console games is the resolution! Multiplat games on the pc just look sharper...its certainly not night and day and a casual gamer would barely notice the difference! The difference is no where near as much as between the HD twins and the wii! The wii is the ugly adopted child (looks nothing like any of the family), whereas the pc is the cool older brother of the HD twins (looks similar, you would definitely know they are related, but just better in everyway,!)[QUOTE="dom2000"][QUOTE="XaosII"]
PC vs 360/PS3 is like the difference between PS3/360 and the Wii.

The difference b/w PC vs 360/PS3 is like PS3/360 to Wii is actually valid. 1 ATI HD 4870 is more powerfull than the Xbox 360+PS3+Wii + all the consoles ever made in the history of the world. I think you fail to account how far PC hardware has come over the past 5 years. The performance of new PC graphics cards are sometimes double the previous gen.
This extra power, from my experience, generally leads to a game that looks sharper due to higher resolution and AA! Generally the effects are the same(Physx is not that significant imo), the animations are the same, assets are the same etc etc. If the games were made specifically for the pc and the graphics werent dumbed down for the console...intellegent people.... then the difference in power would correspond to much greater image quality. Instead all that extra power is used running the games at insanely high resolutions with pointless amount of AA (please someone tell me is 16xAA really neccessary? I play at 1680x1050 and anything over x4 makes no difference) which just makes the games look cleaner. High end graphics cards today just rape more or less everything in sight lol my 8800gtx still maxes out pretty much everything and its got arthritis at this stage! I see absolutely no reason for me to upgrade my computer for a minial increase in image quality. I think thats why these hermits(am i one cause im a pc gamer?) get so defensive in these graphics threads....they must justify buying graphics cards for ridiculous amounts by exaggerating relatively minor differences in graphics quality so it seems worth it! Its quite interesting![QUOTE="dom2000"] Pcs own...consoles suck! Deal with it. If anything its the consoles that are dying.....dying and decaying into pcs!br0kenrabbit
You obviously didn't read my post, because I'm not defending consoles. I don't own any consoles. I don't want any consoles. I'm a PC gamer.
Deal with that, child.
Lol thats hilarous :P Quick quote instead of quick reply...woops ^^ Still it was worth it to see you confused for a second :D[QUOTE="ShuffleSe7en"]

according to intel fourty something % of video game $$$ come from PC
br0kenrabbit
Even if that is true (I'd like to see proof of this) That fourty percent is spread across how many different games?
Right, you have to understand that a LOT more games come out on the PC than on consoles. Most of them, and I mean most not a few, never get reviews at places like Gamespot because they're not big-budget games. However, because of the lower costs of publishing a game on the PC platform (you don't even need to pay for duplication, printing, shipping etc. if you go DD) selling even a few hundered thousand copies can be enough to keep a developer funded long enough to pop out something else.
Many PC developers CHOOSE to make niche games, knowing they're not going to be blockbuster-sellers, because it's a reliable source of income. Whereas on consoles if a game doesn't sell 1,000,000 copies the developers lose money and have to close or sell out.
PC games sell for long periods, as people upgrade their PCs when hardware prices drop and pick up games that have been around for a while that they can now play well. Console sales exist on the crest of a wave, crashing into nothingness shortly after. On PC, people are still buying games that came out 10 years ago pretty consistently.
Yes, PC game sales are spread out over a lot of games, but that's the beauty of it. Out of that we get the types of games consoles would never dream of getting, simply because they wouldn't sell enough on consoles to recover development costs.

Ah this is wat i love about system wars...misleading posts! How many other multiplats have anywhere near this difference in graphics between consoles and pc? Please find me screenshots...i would love to be proven wrong! (and dont get the screenshots of Mafia 2 showing the mirror because that is misleading again :P ) Oh btw metro counts as one of the handiful of games the pc has that is more than just a sharper version of a console game!
