Games on 5 year old hardware aren't even close to catching up. And even on their limited scale. I think you're lying about this or playing it on lower than very high. You mentioned "second 8800gtx died" so you're playing it on one 8800gtx and at 1680x1050? I'd say if you're doing very high settings at that res your getting 15 frames a second with that card. Thats just the truth. If you played it at 1280x720 you might be able to get 25-30fps at very high...

Please learn to read. I said i was playing high/very high with 1 8800gtx (heavily overclocked might i add) at 1680x1050...but when i was playing with both cards i could put all the settings at very high except shadows and have a similar frame rate! And even if i was lying (which im not) u think i wudnt have put all the settings at max just to look at the pretty graphics? even though it wud be a slideshow? Lol i know i put the AA to max to see how good it looks! (definitely not worth the performance hit!)

PC vs 360/PS3 is like the difference between PS3/360 and the Wii.

XaosII
Umm no i disagree. Apart from a handfull of games, the biggest difference between pc and console games is the resolution! Multiplat games on the pc just look sharper...its certainly not night and day and a casual gamer would barely notice the difference! The difference is no where near as much as between the HD twins and the wii! The wii is the ugly adopted child (looks nothing like any of the family), whereas the pc is the cool older brother of the HD twins (looks similar, you would definitely know they are related, but just better in everyway,!)

So funny the amount of Hate PC is getting today. Brings a big smile to my face.

Show's just how great it actually is that all these console gamers have to take the time to attack it. Really, if they weren't jealous they wouldn't even bother posting.

Love PC Gaming....now, excuse me, gota boot up steam and play some games!!!!

Copied and Pasted from another PC hate thread lol.

Frozzik
Funny that...except the fact im not a console gamer, all my ps3 and wii do is collect dust 99% of the time! Also the fact Crysis is one of my favorite games of all time and ive replayed it multiply times...heck i spent more time on the demo level than i did on the last 2 call of duty campaigns! I just dont think it deserves as much recognition as it does about how good it looks. Lol i love the game yet im sick of how often its brought up and the way its brought up...i can understand how the console guys feel!

When you say mixture of high and very high you better be playing with post process and volumetric effects BOTH on Very High. Otherwise no wonder you're not getting it. There was a thread about it yesterday and basically they put Crysis into a strata of its own.

blues35301

Ofcourse i did, im lucky to be gifted with the great intelligence needed to change a few basic settings to get the game to look and run as best it can. Actually i more or less had everything except for shadows at very high before my 2nd 8800gtx decided it was an **** and died on me....my viewpoint stays the same....back in 2007 Crysis wowed me now it definitely does not. Is it because im used to the graphics? Or is it because the other games are finally starting to catch up? I think it is a combination of both. All i know is that the screenshots posted in this thread of vanilla crysis, which were obviously chosen to try to convince me that im wrong and crysis does actually look a generation ahead of any other game and so represent the better graphical parts of the game, do not impress me! They look more or less exactly the same as it does on my computer...great but not absolutely fantastic...and certainly no where near as good as some of the crysis screenshots that float about this forum to show how good the game looks!

Crysis has been graphics king for years....does it not disappoint you that no better looking games are out? Espically when you consider the games scale that Subzero was talking about? Surely by now there would be a "corridor" game with a much smaller scale that blows Crysis's visuals out of the water! I know i for one am pretty dissappointed....unlike most of you guys apparantly the game does not continue to impress me graphically 3 years later....

Unreasonable.....or biased :)

Everyone is biased. You're biased, I'm biased, everyone here is biased. Unreasonable? No. I have no agenda in System Wars, no side to "fight for", I could care less who's best at what. But I disagree with you and think Crysis looks significantly better than what you'd see on consoles, no contest. Guess I'm unreasonable though. Good counter argument.

Lol i dont remember saying that it doesnt look significant better than CONSOLE games...i am talking about other pc games, i dont find their to be that much of a difference between other top pc games and vanilla crysis! Crysis looks better sure but not head and shoulders above and its not without its flaws! I am not one of these lunatics that think their blurry low resolution killzone 3 looks better than crysis, perhaps if it was out on the pc then they would have an arguement! You would be more reasonable if you read my posts instead of making assumptions about what im arguing about!

Uh hell yes it is? With the amount of depth and field you have.. When you compare games, your comparing ones like Killzone 2.. Where the majority of the game is in small scale rooms and hallways.. Where in Crysis you have full scale tank battles over a huge landscapes, there is a huge difference.

sSubZerOo

If you say so, but why does it not blow me away and make me think this is what next generation console games will look like? The scale is impressive, but you act like consoles are incapable of sandbox games. Far Cry 2 was actually quite good looking on consoles and had some great scale. As far as textures, geometry, effects, etc, Crysis for the most part is the best, but it is by no means light years ahead of consoles.

I am sorry you obviously didn't play the entire game.. It isn't just scale its whats going on in there.. Farcry 2 was a very static envrionment with no huge battles.. Crysis had tons of huge battles, ranging where you rode in a tank and fought dozens of tanks.... Of not just you but numerous other elements.. So yes it is light years ahead of it if the CONSOLES CAN'T EVEN PLAY THE GAME TO BEGIN WITH.. If the console can't play Crysis, and no game has come close in not only the graphics but being able to do those graphics in immense scope with tons of action..

I think you have a case of Crysis fanboy syndrome! Ofcourse the consoles can play crysis...the settings can be lowered you know? And the tank battle was actually one the least impressive parts of crysis imo! Was that level not mainly just an open field with some trees?

[QUOTE="dom2000"][QUOTE="karasill"]Crysis is a great looking game and running on my GTX 460 at a nice smooth framerate I must say it's the best looking game out there. With that said it's not what hermits make it out to be, it's not light years ahead of console games (Vanilla version). I mean it's 3 years old for crying out loud :?Skittles_McGee
Thankyou! A rare voice of reason!

The best looking parts of the game are during the American Invasion and on ward.. Inside the mountain, on the slopes of the frozen end.. And on the carrier all look jaw dropping.. Furthermore you should at very least use the CCC mod.sSubZerOo
I do use the CCC mod :) And yes it did impress me the first time ive seen it but it doesnt anymore! It certainly doesnt impress me as much as the near bullshot quality pictures of crysis that pop up on this forum when anyone mentions that another game looks good...when in reality when the vast majority of people play the game it looks no where near as good as that.
