I just want my console to play games. Yes the X1 has a fair amount of bells and whistles, but I don't care. Those functions are not essential. Those functions don't really improve my game playing experience and those functions are certainly not innovative. I have a ton of other devices in my household which can do what my X1 does and I use those devices for those things. My X1 just plays games. The problem with including a load of features is that your product is in danger of becoming a "jack of all trades, master of none".
The PS4 is a simple, focused gaming machine and that was half the appeal for me when I bought it. It was my first choice this gen (I got the Xbox afterwards) and I have no regrets.
Yet another ignorant comment which completely ignores their most successful divisions, such as finance and insurance.
Not only that, but most of their divisions actually turned a profit last quarter.
I never use Kinect or anything like that on my Xbox One, and whilst I agree that the PS4 is just a PS3 with better graphics, to me the Xbox One is just a 360 with better graphics. Pretty much the only thing that defines "next gen" is better graphics. It always has been. Don't really understand your point.
@cassar31: I agree with you about how good the original Deus Ex was (and still is), but do you really have to try and pull a PC gamer vs. console gamer angle? Talk about clutching at straws and sounds kinda - I dunno - pathetic?
@xOmniCloudx: Fair enough. Yes I understand that porting the original Saturn games would be difficult and that the only realistic chance of seeing those Panzer games again is through a from-the-ground-up remake, which Sega will probably never do. I'm not sure I believe those rumours of the source code being lost though. It just doesn't make much sense. I would give anything to play these games again, especially with updated graphics. Or maybe a whole new Panzer adventure. If I was rich and Sega were willing to part with the rights, I'd buy them in a heart-beat.
