@drunk_punk: I was also referring to when they first released. Here is an article from November 2013 based on a teardown of the hardware. There were many other articles published stating this, even right here on Gamespot:
@drunk_punk: What are you smoking? The processors in both the PS4 and Xbox One are both garbage and not worth anywhere near $1000. They were designed to be used in tablets, not consoles (or gaming rigs for that matter), but were adapted for the purpose because they were low cost.
Microsoft and Sony are not losing money on each PS4 and Xbox One sold. It was published at the time they launched that Sony made $18 on every PS4 sold, whilst Microsoft made $28 on every Xbox One sold. Sure the prices have been cut since then, but the cost of the hardware inside those machines has also dropped. They are probably still making money on each console sold.
