Most PAL games play on my NTSC unit through a SDTV, but some of games, Oblivion and Tekken Dark Ressurection come to mind, need to be played through a HDTV because the console only outputs at a USA SD resolution and those games are set up to output at a PAL SD resolution.

So to answer your question. Most games will play, but some will need a HDTV.

As long as it is within the first 30 days of purchase, and you do need your receipt, or reward card if you lost the receipt.

Outside the 30 days you need to go through Sony.

My 60GB works fine, no power converter or anything, it's all built into the power supply inside the PS3.

Just go to your local PC shop or Harvey Norman/Dick Smith and get a standard PC power cable.

PS2 games and PSX games still retain their region restrictions.

When you first start up your PS3, you need to create an account on the PS3. From that account you can then create your PSN ID. Make your first account, then go and make a 2nd account, name it something generic like USA or JPN or Account 2 or something that you will instantly recognise as a "dummy" account. On that "Dummy" account make a USA or JPN PSN ID and keep your main one as AU (or you can make your main a USA PSN ID like myself, and my dummy accounts are AU and JPN ID's.)

Hope that clears things up for you.

Heres the story, all PS3s have Sotfware Emulation, it's built into the firmware. So yes, even the 60GB with the EE chip have software emulation.
The 60GB with the EE also is a hardware emulation. The PS3 does not have all the same components that the PS2 has, so it (PS3) does a hardware emulation using the EE chip to help, which is why even with the EE the PS3 still doesnt play 100% of all PS2/PSX games. This is also why every PS3 has sotfware emulation, eventually any PS3 will play every game (provided it is the same region) that came out on the PS2/PSX.
