@timmyp1982: Thanks, I'll check out the corrected link and eventually Cemu. I always thought FF4-7 was the golden era.

@timmyp1982: Wow, I hadn't really considered WiiU emulation yet. I ended up playing the 2nd half of Xenoblade Chronicles (XC) on the Dolphin emu for higher res and convenient save states, not to mention saving on batteries from the wiimote. Even transferred my original wii save, though I grabbed the ROM because it was easier than using my disc. Even though my PC was beyond the reqs, the game still stuttered occasionally - though it wasn't that often.

That's really cool if you can change out the tracks for X on the emu. I agree that the field songs seemed pretty good, and remember liking the barracks song more than the shitty song... I mean city song :P I didn't get very far so I might look into to switching over to the emu since I just got a GTX 1080. What's the WIIU emulator you recommend, and is it easy to trade out the tracks?

I'm so stoked about Mitsuda doing the whole game for XC2 and didn't realize the contribution from ACE+ on XC until reading your previous comment and looking them up. It wasn't entirely clear earlier though, did Yoko work on the original XC, along with ACE+ and Mitsuda? If not when did the 3 all work together? Also, I have to mention Nobuo Uematsu as another great composer. He ended up finishing Mitsuda's work on Chrono Trigger after Mitsuda got so stressed from pressuring himself that he became ill. I think it still has a very distinct Mitsuda sound to it, especially with his intentional use of leitmotif (recurring melodic themes). I've started to realize that the music can make or break a game for me.

There was an article where Mitsuda said he was brought to tears after hearing how beautiful a choir sang for one of his new tracks for XC2. Sounds like powerful stuff.

PS: I'll have to learn more about Takahashi because I've always associated Hironobu Sakaguchi with the greatness of the classic FFs; although the director from FFXII / Tactics / Vagrant story took it in a great direction IMO. I wished they would have continued with the XII battle and exploration style instead of what they did with XIII and even XV. I thought FFXIV: ARR did good though.

PPS: I'm a little buzzed from beer, hence the long comment. I could talk about this stuff for hours. If only there were a Final Fantasy / Chrono / Xeno chat room out there...

This has become my favorite in the series over the years, and I've completed every mainline entry (only the remake versions for 1 through 3 though.) Final Fantasy XII has aged very well.

@worldwartrump: I think it will come to PC. I'd give it about a year or two. The FFX remaster came within a year of the PS4 version. It was actually surprising to me that it came that soon though.

@timmyp1982: My bad. For some reason, I thought I had read she was the composer and thought it was her as I was playing the game. Turns out that game was composed by Hiroyuki Sawano.

@CallMeDuraSouka: That's a good point. I think Gamespot has made it pretty clear over the last few years that clicks are a much higher priority than the community we once had here.

I'm glad CD Projekt Red is not going to give into the demands and it's pretty cool how they informed the public about it. Even the documents contained spoilers I hope they'd still refuse out of principle. I'd certainly refuse to look at the leaks out of principle and I think you can count on most fans who wouldn't want the story spoiled would do the same.

@timmyp1982: I think Yoko Shimomura was a little hit and miss in Xenoblade Chronicles X although I do like a lot of her work in Kingdom Hearts. Of course Guile's theme is classic :) Mitsuda on the other hand did Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, and the first Xenoblade Chronicles with some otherworldly tracks. I don't always love his battle music though, so I'd say Shimomura tends to win in that regard. I'm pretty excited to hear his score in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and I've read that it's already almost complete.

@timmyp1982: Glad to hear I'm not the only one who felt like Xenoblade Chronicles is the closest thing we have to a Chrono Trigger spiritual successor. The music by Yasunori Mitsuda is what seals the deal.

Great video! I never read comic books growing up so I didn't know any of this, but it's all very interesting. My vote goes to Thor for the next one.
