I am having problems with these latest ATI drivers, even with hotfix. If you are using them with 58 series card, it could be same as what I am experiencing.

I had a 5870 Sapphire with a bad fan, returned for a HIS. I dont know if that really means anything. They look identical minus the stickers..

Just get the one with best goodies. LOL

It all comes down to how much money you have (pc gaming is expensive) and how much tech knowledge you have. You need to know what to buy and also how to build and when to upgrade etc. I agree that (for me) it is fun and satisfying to build, tweak and play games on my PC. I also have consoles for other reasons. I like playing Uncharted 2 or LBP on my PS3 and Metroid and New Mario on my Wii.

I have to say though, I would much rather play CoD MW 2, Left For Dead 2 and Dragon Age on my PC. They play WAY better. I usually pick this format for multiplatform games. PC gaming also gives me a early taste of where consoles are going to end up. Its nice to be on the top of the technological curve.

[QUOTE="dtrem1"]

I am trying to show someone a comparison between my overclocked CPU and his stock one. Whats a good and free benchmarking tool to use? Besides pcmark..

anyone?

UltimateGamer95
PCMark is always an excellent benchmark :D. And you should do some benchmarks on games at lower resolutions such as Crysis at 1024x768 on High Quality and that is so that you won't have the CPUs bottlenecking on your benchmarks :)

thanks, but I should have mentioned, I am comparing my i7 with someone who doesnt game on his system.

You are good for awhile yet... Games wont require i5 or i7s for awhile. Dont sweat it.

You could throw in a Quad like a 9550 when the prices drop or you score one on ebay and maybe a 5850 or 5870 GPU so you can run DX11 (depending on your resolution.)

I bet you can last another 2 years easily.
