People really hyped the Final Fantasy shooter and praised it and lauded it and talked about "how sweeet it will be!", and then it turned out to be crap.

Because it's on the Wii.  If it was coming onto the same consoles as RE5 was, the cows and lemmings would be praising it and the sheep would be bashing it.
