But Master Chief? He's exclusive to Microsoft, has never appeared on a Nintendo console, so why should be be featured on Smash Bros.?

Of course a VP from Microsoft would want to see Master Chief in Smash Bros. because it would essentially be free marketing for his own company on a competitor's platform, but what would Nintendo gain from it? Nothing.
