Killzone 1 was GG's 1st go at making a game.
This way before sony bought them over.
Back then thier team was much less funded and smaller than what it is today. But you see, Killzone 1 was the best looking fps on the ps2, its was an AMAZING fps, but back then GG made a game which was too much for the ps2. And as a result you had game which had alot of graphical hickups and shoddy framrate, also bad voice acting with some characters (the cut scenes had normal voice acting tho). but GG was very talented, thats what sony still bought them over even tho the game only got a 7.0 due to the technical stuff ups.
Then came killzone liberation, had some of the BEST gfx on the psp i have ever seen, and hands down won the award for the best AI ever seen on the psp.
Seriously, if you ever played liberation, you would know that the AI is TOUGH. They know thier $***. They take cover when reloading or when they are being supressed/taking damage, call for backup, wait for backup, give orders to subordinates, sometimes run up to you for a melee attack when your reloading, shouts out to "scatter" when there is a grenade close by, will try to melee you before you melee them, attack as a team, long range dudes will always try to keep thier distance from you, and always try to emphasise on self preservation.
And from the AI demos ive seen of Killzone 2. ZOMGWTF. The AI is tougher. The graphics are animations are beyond anything else, the cover system is awsome, there a veichles, the setting and theme is bloody good, i like the story, its made of every single thread of pure ps3 architecture, there is no framerate drop, its all smoother as hell.
Its going to be a bloody good shooter. 100x better than KZ1. With the amped up team and sony's very close support and large funding.
