[QUOTE="Safetynetss"][QUOTE="XilePrincess"]TBBT is one of my favorite shows right now. I find it hilarious and all around awesome, I notice most of the people who don't like it are just not smart enough to pick up on the majority of the best jokes (no offense of course). I guess that's just what you get when you give a generation that lives off fart jokes and physical abuse as comedy an actual comedic performance. I don't like 2 and a half men at all, by the way.XilePrincess
Ah sophisticated humor, I guess I'm not used to such high brow humor of hearing an annoying fake Indian accent ever second and generic hello-CUE LAUGH TRACK type scenes.
Sophisticated jokes are nothing the same as "smart" jokes. Unless you have a basic grasp on the types of science the characters are doing, you won't understand the various witty comments and quips they make in reference to it. And I never said the most obvious jokes, I said the best ones. Again, there is a difference which you neglect to acknowledge. The actor who plays Raj has an indian accent IRL, so it's not fake whatsoever, but of course it's going to be exaggerated for his character, who is supposed to have moved to california to work at the university, so why wouldn't he have a very thick accent? I don't even notice the laugh tracks, because it's one of the few shows where I can laugh on my own without being cued to. A good amount of the comedy on the show comes from not what is said, but the pure talent of the actors' expressions and actions. That's hard to say for most shows. It has NOTHING to do with understanding physics. The delivery of jokes is horrible. HORRIBLE. There's a reason why the big book of jokes we had as kids were written only, not said aloud. They would make titans cringe and puppies cry. I suppose it boils down to different tastes. Heck only 8 years ago I really liked Friends. Than I just watched an episode once and couldn't understand why I didn't like it anymore and why I found the characters aggravating. This may happen to you as you get older and look back at the shows you once liked.
