How the mighty have fallen - this is sad but not entirely unexpected news in an industry where you can be top of the pile one year and insolvent the next.
Expect more of the same in the following months I fear.
I'm surprised Blockbuster have managed to hang on this long actually and yeah, I was under the impression they were closing last year sometime citing online competition and digital retail as the cause of it's downfall.
Blockies were just too behind the times and it bit them in the arse big time.
WiiU isn'g getting close to the advertising campaign blitz Nintendo embarked on over the last years or so for the DS and Wi consoles.
Reception of the WiiU seems to be less than stellar if I was honest and i suspect most people who felt cheated from purchasing the original Wi will steer well clear of the WiiU this time around.
Nintendo capitalised on the market and a wide demographic at exactly the right time and presented a console for the masses at an affordable price - great combination but I don't really think that's going to happen this time around.
Great to see Journey win this and proving you don't have to be a billion dollar development budget to hit the right note.
Journey did make me realise that playing the same old rubbish like COD, Halo & Mass Effect really does close your eyes to what else is out there.
I wouldn't normally go anywhere near something like Journey but decided to give it a go based on word of mouth really, not via bombardment of game advertising like the big games get (Mass Effect series being the worst advertising overkill in existence) but it was a revelation for me personally drifting through Journey's game world at a pace I dictated - very refreshing and a game that managed to get it's head above the overcrowded swamp of same old, same old.
