Thought I was looking at Need For Speed Heat there for a minute.

@Pyrosa: Yes - semantics. I say flop from many aspects but not necessarily commercially. It flopped on a technical level as well as crushing CD Project Reds reputation. That definitely tanked in the aftermath of release. It flopped from a planning perspective. How does a game so long in development, with a seemingly unlimited budget & resources turn out so bad?

Unfortunately, Cyberpunk will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. In my mind, it definitely flopped.

Probably the greatest flop in gaming history. Literally no one talks about this game any more.

Impressive but then everything about the Steam Deck is impressive at this point in time.

Switch OLED looking like a complete joke right now.

Sadly, this is probably the most exciting Nintendo news around lately.

@nintendians:

Your original response said "...until someone finds a way to install windows on it" suggesting you have to do some sort of hack to get it to run like a normal PC.

That isn't the case at all, it can simply install (I'm assuming) a purchased digital version of a windows operating system and it behaves and operates exactly like a desktop PC in a portable format.

@nintendians: Steam Deck isn't chained to Linux.

Valve has already stated as part of their marketing that you can just install a windows operating system as well as other publishers' stores etc. It's basically a PC.

So....any plans for a Switch Pro died right there. OLED switch is the best you're gonna get this year.

Steam Deck has never looked so damned good.

@makchady:

Some good points there but I just see cloud gaming in a similar vein as digital only. There seems to me at least, a huge percentage of gamers who absolutely have to have a hard copy of their game purchases. It's still a thing apparently but not one I fully understand.

The launch of PS5 in both disc & digital options, could be a great hardware barometer in figuring out what the take-up is for either flavour but I suspect the disc versions of PS5 outsell the digital only versions by a fair margin, although it's so hard to get hold of any PS5 right now, people may end up grabbing what they can get, disc or digital? At this point in time, nobody cares I suspect.

So with that in mind, I'm thinking Valves Steam Deck suddenly looks like a real proposition for the casual gamer in light of the fact that Nintendo, at least for the foreseeable future, won't be delivering a Switch Pro anytime soon.

The Switch OLED seems to be more of an attempt by Nintendo to placate the rabid Nintendo fans. I just can't see the casual gamer with vanilla switch, rushing out to buy this latest iteration.

On top of that, if Nintendo do suddenly unveil a Switch Pro, say 6 months after the OLED switch releases, the fallout from that would be spectacular, so my gut feeling is right now, is that there won't be a Nintendo Pro appearing this year I doubt.
