Back on topic.

Being a PSP owner first, when I bought my DS, I was pretty dissappointed at the high game prices. I originally though Wii games are cheaper then PS3 games, so DS games must be cheaper then PSP games - boy was I wrong. First-party games like Mario are even worse when it comes to finding a bargain. I was tempted to buy a used copy of New Super Mario Bros. for $28 (all figures Canadian), which retails new for $40 before smacking myself in the head (I have a no portable game above $25 rule that I've only broken 3 times, all for Final Fantasy games)

I'm a big bargain hunter, and keep track of my games and prices I pay for them. My PSP games (about 22 of them) cost on average $17, while my DS games (about 10 of them) cost $21 on average. Take your time and search around for the best prices. A couple tips:

1. Search around for the best deal - this is a simple one, but always remember that the best places to buy games are places that aren't as known for video games. What I mean by this is department stores - they don't know the "value" of some video games, and with a little time and effort, you'll be able to find some gems in thier discount bin.

2. Buy used games - unless you MUST get that game new (ie, Chrono Trigger), used games the the exact same job, for a cheaper price

3. Search your local "classified advertisements," like Kijiji or Craigslist or eBay - You'll definitely find the cheapest prices here.

4. Buy online - Buying online removes the Brick and Mortar store costs, resulting in generally cheaper prices. Amazon is the standard, and it only gets cheaper from there.

5. Keep track of store promotions - EB Games always has monthly promotions you can take advantage of, like the trade-in-3-get-1-free promo

6. Trade-in or Sell your used games - Do you need to keep EVERY game you've purchased? I certainly don't, and sure wouldn't mind liquidizing it. EB Games and local classifieds like Kijiji and Craigslist are your best bet.

7. WAIT. Don't buy new release games, unless you MUST get that game now. Portable games drop in price like a rock 3 or 4 months later.

Hope that helps!

They should "make" Virtual Console for the DSi, and offer titles on Virtual Console for Wii, similar to what PSN offers for the PS3/PSP.

If they implemented a Virtual Console for the DSi and offered even half of the games available on the Wii VC, I would upgrade my DSL in a snap. "Snap" - just like that.

i was just wondering how do i arrange the order of my picture on the psp, its not the same order as it was on my computer, so if i wanted to view them in a certain order by clicking the R button how do i arrange it so that it works out?

Guol

They're ordered by the last date modified. I remember having to change the name of each picture in the order I wanted to view them. Eventually I gave up and just organized them by folder and forgot about ordering them.

The gameplay and graphics for Logan's Shadow were much more fluid and polished then Dark Mirror, while the soundtrack for Logan's Shadow was also top notch. The boss battles for one of them (I think Logan's Shadow...forget, its been a while) were kinda lame, other then the final boss.

Syphon Filter and Metal Gear Solid are very different games, so its difficult comparing them - both games contain elements of shooter and stealth, with Syphon Filter being more of the former and MGS the latter. I found MGS to be more realistic (and thus prefered) because in reality (yes, I'm comparing a video game to reality) if you're on a sneaking mission, you don't kill everyone - you sneak around them. In that sense, SF is much more about shooting. MGS, especially Portable Ops with the team based system, is all about stealth - I barely used the Mk22 unless necessary or in a boss fight. At the end of Dark Mirror, I felt like I should pick up Logan's Shadow sometime when it drops in price. At the end of Portable Ops, I immediately went and picked up Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection (MGS, MGS2 & MGS3) the next day, and played through the games (untill exams starting popping up...darn those exams)

Yep. You'll regret it once the exclusive DSi games release.

If you're going to get a PSP, wait for the PSP Go.

KurodaMurasaki

The "PSP Go" you're refering to is still a rumor.

Take a look at what games are available for each system and choose the system which has the games that you're most interested in. Sure, each system has multimedia options and such, but at the end of the day, you're getting the system for the games.

Heck, why not get both? Best of both worlds. I'm sure enjoying both.

Japan gets all the good jrpg

leonklauser

That was the most pointless comment ever made.

It's like saying Canada gets all the good Canadian beer.

Or if you live in Canada, you could pick up First Departure at The Source Circuit City for $10! And if you're lucky, price match at Best Buy or Future Shop for $7!

Most fake rumor ever created, ever! This is the real prototype:

http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/psp2-rumor-surfaces-once-more-sounds-awfully-familiar/

It might come out, but there is about a 45% chance of this really being the PSP2, or the so called, PSP-4000.

squaredude44

That's not a prototype. That's also a mock-up, and a really old one too. Keep going through Engadget posts and you'll find that pic had been used before the PSP-2000 came out.

It's a proof of concept; they're testing the waters of a proper online download release, to see how it sells, and what critical response it achieves. iPod Touch and iPhone's App Store digital distribution has possibly shown the way forward, and certainly shown it can be done. Sony are stepping up to the game ^_^NextGenAdam

Yeah, the App Store has been hugely successful with digital distribution. But Apple had the iTunes music store to help jump start the App Store. Not to mention the 35,000 softare titles available to iPhone/iPod Touch users. Compare this to Sony's 30ish PSOne Classics, and 30ish UMD legacy games? =S

I don't know how big the Patapon game size is, but I'm gonna go out on a limb to say its abut 250MB - a relatively small amount considering the UMD's capacity. It appears that Sony is trying out the download only option with a smaller size title first, and gradually bump it up the GBs. I know I for sure would scoff at Sony if they did this for a 1.8GB game, because that would takes hours for the average gamer/consumer, myself included.
