[QUOTE="TheSmacK420"][QUOTE="el_cobra99"] I used to work at Best Buy and from what I know is they dont repair consoles, they send them to the manufacturer for them to decide if/whats wrong with it. If the manufacturer says its no longer working then Best Buy will replace your console with a new one or you can get your money back or ask for store credit which is the same as what you orignally paid. I dont think you could easily go in and ask to replace your current system for the new one (assuming the Elite is confirmed which by the way hasnt been confirmed so stop with these threads) even if you do have the service plan and pay the difference.
Best Buy would lose money on that deal since the old system would have to be sold by them again plus $80 is what you would actually pay for the new system and we all know Best Buy doesnt like to give stuff away without them gaining something significant.

Yeah, and from what I have seen with other people who have brought in dead systems or called the number is that they have to wait a few weeks and they get their system repaired by Microsoft.....I have never seen them give store credit.....it's like a last resort for Best Buy....they hate giving customers what they want....That's actually part of the reason I left....Um both of you are wrong....I just brought in my broke 360 today to Best Buy and showed my replacement plan warranty. I told them it kept saying "unplayable disc", they told me to go get another from video games section. They did not check to see if it was working or not, and the manager put in my old hard drive into the new console when I asked to keep it. The girl at the counter did not even go through the two bags I brought in with all the cables and controller, and headset. i probably could have kept the controller and headset, perhaps even left my hard drive at home, and just given them the hdd-less 360 and cables and walked away with a brand new 30 with everything. Being able to pull off a stunt to trade the old 360 for the new 'elite' doesnn't seem too improbable from what I seen today.
Did you bother to read what we posted? We both said they would replace your broken system if you have the service plan. What you got was a replacement, you are actually lucky they replaced it on the spot because you usually have to wait about 2 weeks plus they usually check.
Prove to me on that you can do this... tell me where it says you can replace your old system for a new one even if its working on your service plan brochure. I know for a fact you will not get a new system by trying to do a trade-in and pay the difference, Best Buy is in the money making business its not a charity.
