What's your tv's resolution? Same as mine? Coz what I mean is, using a 1366x768 HD ready tv then set it to 1080p, would it lag or something? Yes you're right, I tried comparing it both with my hd ready tv, 720p and 1080p, I really noticed a slight improvement in the picture quality.lag? from the resolution? i doubt it is the resolution. movies that have a max resolution of 1080p wont lag, or even standard. Most video games have a resolution of 720p, which your ps3 and tv would automatically change when you start the game. Ive had my LCD to its max resolution and never had a problem with lag or frame rates. Besides, your tv and ps3 have a max resolution for a reason, give ita try and you'll see that what the max resolution has a slight better color scheme and sound fragmentation

[QUOTE="emcee4321"]The other guy said that it could cause lag and a few other problems when setting it to 1080p. Is that true?I_am_In_FlamesYour TV doesn't even support 1080p. Simply set it to 720p, that would be closest to your monitors native resolution and would most likely have the best results. You can also give 1080i a try, but it's more than likely optimal at 720p. Yes my tv is only HD ready but it can play 1080p. As what I've said, the PS3 auto detect video settings results to 1080p. Before I used to set it on 720p, but there is a slight flicker on the screen. So I decided to let the PS3 decide.
This means that your TV is capable of accepting a 1080p signal. It scales the 1080p signal to fit your TV, and it is not harmful to the TV, so you can use that setting if you want.
Even when you send it a 720p signal to your TV it still has to scale it, because 720p has a resolution of 1280x720 and your TV is 1366x768.

Oh I see.. Maybe that's why.. I tried to compare 720p and 1080p with my 1366x768 resolution tv, I saw a slight clearer image / picture quality with 1080p. Are you sure it's safe for my tv and ps3 to use 1080p? Maybe I'll just stick to that, coz the problem is gone if I let the ps3 decide and use 1080p. I just use 720p before coz I'm worried for my ps3 and tv.
Guys I need help.. When I set it on 720p, I see a slight flicker on the xmb especially when it is black. Tried different types of HDMI cable,. still the same thing happens. So I let the PS3 decide on the video output (automatically detect video settings) and the result is 1080p. And amazingly, the problems are gone! Why is that? My tv is just HD ready ( 1366x768 ) And also, I noticed a slight improvement in the picture quality. Should I just keep it on 1080p? I'm worried that it might cause future problems to my PS3 / HDTV..
First of all that ain't a HD tv, HD is 1900X1080 or something. It could be HD ready however. 1. 720p cause it ain't full HD 2. full 3.on 4.Play with it till you like it.deleterguy
Yes, my tv is only HD ready not full HD. But if I set my ps3 to detect automatically settings for the video, it results to 1080p. (It appears on ps3 xmb video settings and display settings of tv) I don't know why. And also, if i set it the RGB to full, the screen goes a little bit dark. Question 4 - Ive heard that keeping on high settings of the tv can shorten the lifespan / stress the tv?
Need help, best and recommended (not stress) settings for PS3 and HDTV. My LCD TV is 32 inch 1366x768:
1. What should check on ps3 output - 720p / 1080i / 1080p
2. RGB Full range - limited or full
3. Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super White - on or off
4. level of - brightness, contrast, color, sharpness, color, noise reduction
My component cable before supports 720p till 1080p.
I already switched from component cable to hdmi cable, the flicker is gone. :)
Question is when I try to configure the video output to hdmi then automatically video detect for the ps3, the result is 1080p. I see it both from xmb and the display from my tv. But my tv's resolution is only 1366x768 (720p) Why is that? Should I do the manual and just check the 720p? I don't want to stress the ps3 / tv. And is it ok to play hi-def (720p or 1080p) all the time? I'm worried for the tv that it might be stressed because of the hi-def always or for the ps3 overheat. Correct me if I'm wrong.
