Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

PLOT

The player takes on the role of Tommy Vercetti, a man who was released from prison in 1986 after serving 15 years for killing eleven people. The leader of the organization for whom he used to work, Sonny Forelli, fears that Tommy's presence in Liberty City will heighten tensions and bring unwanted attention upon his organization's criminal activities. To prevent this, Sonny ostensibly "promotes" Tommy and sends him to Vice City to act as their buyer for a series of cocaine deals. During Tommy's first meeting with the drug dealers, an ambush by an unknown party results in the death of Tommy's bodyguards, Harry and Lee, and the dealer. There is another survivor, who flies off in a helicopter. Tommy narrowly escapes with his life, but he loses both the Forelli's money and the cocaine.

Tommy returns to his hotel room and phones Forelli to inform him of the outcome of the deal. Tommy promises to retrieve the money and the cocaine and kill whoever was responsible for the ambush. Towards this end, Tommy meets up again with Forelli's lawyer Ken Rosenberg, who leads Tommy to contact a mid-level drug dealer and ex-military Colonel named Juan Garcia Cortez. Cortez expresses regret about Tommy's bad deal and promises that his own lines of inquiry are being made. Tommy also meets Cortez's daughter Mercedes.

While Tommy waits for the outcome of Cortez's investigation he meets British record producer Kent Paul, real estate mogul Avery Carrington and local free-lance criminal Lance Vance. Lance is eventually revealed to be helping Tommy because his brother and business partner was the dealer who was killed in the ambush, and he too is seeking revenge.

Tommy also befriends and works for Colonel Cortez as an errand boy and hitman. One of his jobs for Cortez is to provide protection for druglord Ricardo Diaz during a deal with the Cuban gang Los Cabrones which is ambushed by a gang of Haitians. Tommy does his job and kills all the Haitians, which leads Diaz to begin hiring Tommy for his own jobs. Tommy takes this work because it pays well, despite his distaste for Diaz.

Tommy learns from Cortez that Cortez's own lieutenant, Gonzalez, was partially responsible for the ambush on Tommy's cocaine deal, and asks Tommy to kill Gonzalez with a chainsaw. Afterwards Cortez lays suspicion for the ambush upon Diaz. Tommy initially plans to continue the status quo to prepare for his own attack, but his hand is forced when Lance Vance attempts to take revenge himself and fails. Lance is captured and taken to a junkyard to be tortured. Tommy rushes across the city and rescues him. With the die cast, the two move quickly to raid Diaz's mansion with assault rifles provided by Lance. They wound and then execute Diaz outside his office. With Diaz dead, and Colonel Cortez fleeing the country on his boat to escape arrest, the established drug empires in Vice City quickly crumble and Tommy and Lance personally take over, becoming Vice City's cocaine kingpins.

Tommy becomes the head of his own organization, and the more powerful and rich Tommy becomes, the more Lance begins to exhibit paranoid and sociopathic behaviors, to the point that he begins to physically abuse his own bodyguards and constantly calls Tommy in states of hysteria.

Tommy also makes alliance with Umberto Robina's Los Cabrones against Auntie Poulet's Haitians, even though he is at the same time hypnotized by Poulet's voodoo into helping the Haitians. In the end though, Tommy and the Cubans sneak explosives into the Haitian drug factory in Haitian gang cars and blow it up, ending the Haitian gang's power.

Tommy also buys assests in nearly bankrupt companies such as a car lot, a cab depot, a strip club, a night club, a boathouse, a print shop for counterfeit money, an ice-cream company that actually deals drugs, an adult film company. He also becomes a personal bodyguard to a rock band, an honorary member of a biker gang, and pulls off a major bank heist. Many of the properties he buys requires additional missions before they become profitable.

Eventually the Forelli Family finds out that Tommy has taken over crime in Vice City without sending a cut to Sonny as required. Sonny sends collectors to force money out of Tommy's assets, but Tommy disposes of them. An angered Sonny Forelli arrives in Vice City with a small army of mafioso and street thugs, intent on taking their tribute by force. When Sonny and his henchmen arrive at the Vercetti Estate, Tommy attempts to give them their tribute in counterfeit money. However, Lance, having come to resent Tommy's substantial share of their profits, betrays Tommy and tells the Forelli's the money is counterfeit and allies with them. In the game's climax Lance, Sonny, and Sonny's henchmen raid Tommy's Mansion.

Tommy first chases and kills Lance on the rooftop helipad, then storms downstairs where he faces off with Sonny Forelli. During the gunfight Sonny reveals he is the one who set Tommy up fifteen years before, causing him to kill the eleven men who were expecting him. Tommy eventually kills Sonny as well. With his enemies vanquished, Tommy establishes himself as the undisputed crime kingpin of Vice City. Ken Rosenberg, who has worked with Tommy throughout the events of the game, becomes his right-hand man.

OVERVIEW

This game is so wonderful but the fact that its like watching a old gangster movie that you can pay 6 dollars to buy deminishes the exp. it makes it feel like one big refrence to the 80's but still the time period is perfect and the soundtrack is the best out of all of the GTA games

For the first time in Grand Theft Auto history motorcycles were avaible to the player

Modern Warfare 2

PLOT

Modern Warfare 2 is set five years after the conclusion of Call of Duty 4. Despite the efforts of United States Marine Corps and the SAS, the Ultranationalists ultimately seize control of Russia and declare Imran Zakhaev a hero and martyr, erecting a statue of him in the heart of Red Square. Meanwhile, Vladimir Makarov, one of Zakhaev's former lieutenants, begins a campaign against Europe by committing numerous acts of terrorism.

The game begins in Afghanistan, where U.S. Army Ranger Private First ****Joseph Allen assists in the taking of a city from insurgents. Impressed by Allen's combat abilities, Lieutenant General Shepherd recruits him into Task Force 141, an elite, multi-national counter-terrorist unit under Shepherd's command. Meanwhile, two other members of Task Force 141, Captain John "Soap" MacTavish and Sergeant Gary "Roach" Sanderson infiltrate a Russian airbase in the Tian Shan mountains in order to retrieve a downed ACS module. Allen is later sent on an undercover mission in Russia for the CIA under the alias of "Alexei Borodin." Allen joins Makarov in a massacre of civilians at the Zakhaev International Airport in Moscow. It is soon revealed at the conclusion of the attack that Makarov is aware of Allen's true identity and, before leaving, kills him to expose his identity as an American, leading the Russian police to believe that America was responsible for the attack

Angered by what was believed to be an American-supported terrorist attack, Russia retaliates with a massive surprise attack on the United States after bypassing its early warning system, revealing that the ACS module MacTavish and Sanderson recovered had already been compromised before its retrieval. Sergeant Foley leads his squad of U.S. Army Rangers, including Private James Ramirez, in the defense of a suburb in northeastern Virginia against the Russian invasion. They then proceed towards a war-torn Washington, D.C., where more U.S. forces are fighting a desparate battle against the Russians for control of the capital city

Meanwhile, Task Force 141 begins its search for evidence that would implicate Makarov as the true mastermind behind the airport massacre. Intelligence leads it to Rio de Janeiro, where the Task Force investigates leads on Makarov's contact, weapons dealer Alejandro Rojas. They find out that Makarov's worst enemy, known as Prisoner 627, is locked up in a Russian gulag east of Petropavlovsk on the Kamchatka Peninsula. Task Force 141 assaults the prison and manages to free Prisoner 627, who turns out to be Captain Price. Price agrees to aid Task Force 141 and General Shepherd in tracking down Makarov. Price however decides that ending the war in America is their first priority. To end it, he temporarily goes rogue, and leads Task Force 141 to raid a Russian port and gain control of a nuclear submarine. Price uses the submarine to launch an SLBM towards Washington D.C. However, he sets the warhead to detonate in the upper atmosphere, which destroys the International Space Station, and creates an EMP that cripples vehicles and electronic equipment on both sides, giving the Americans a slight advantage. Back on the ground, Ramirez and his squad, after avoiding the aircraft falling from the sky, head to the White House. There, they receive a transmission informing them that the Air Force is preparing to carpet bomb the city. The only way to stop them is to deploy green flares on the rooftop of the White House and other important buildings that are currently under Russian control. Ramirez and his squad fight their way to the roof of the White House and manage to set off flares in the nick of time, averting an airstrike. Green flares are lit on the rooftops of other D.C. landmarks, signifying that the city is still in American hands.

Narrowing down Makarov's hiding place to two separate locations, Task Force 141 decides to split up. Captains Price and MacTavish travel to an aircraft boneyard in Afghanistan, while Roach and Ghost raid Makarov's safehouse in the Caucasus Mountains. At the safehouse, Roach and his team manage to obtain vital intelligence from Makarov's computer and escape the safehouse with Makarov's men in hot pursuit. However, as Roach and Ghost reach the extraction point, Shepherd betrays and kills them, before retrieving the intelligence and taking it with him. Meanwhile, Price and MacTavish quickly learn of Shepherd's betrayal and escape a battle between Shepherd and Makarov's men with the help of Nikolai. After managing to contact Makarov and learning of Shepherd's location, Price and MacTavish decide to take revenge on Shepherd in one final, bloody suicide mission. During the infiltration, Shepherd tries to escape and a long boat pursuit ensues.

Shepherd appears to have escaped when he drives his boat into the back of a hovering MH-53 helicopter. However, Price manages to shoot the helicopter's rotor, causing it to crash just as the boat he and MacTavish are on tumbles over a waterfall. After recovering from the fall, a heavily-injured MacTavish attempts to kill Shepherd with his knife, but Shepherd blocks the attack and in turn stabs MacTavish. As MacTavish lies on the ground, Shepherd prepares to execute him with his revolver, but before he can, Price attacks him and knocks the revolver away. Soap tries to grab the revolver but Shepherd kicks it away and kicks Soap in the head. Price and Shepherd then engage in an extended fist fight while MacTavish struggles to pull the knife out of his own chest.

MacTavish finally manages to work the knife free of his chest and throws it at Shepherd, killing him. Price attends to MacTavish's wounds as Nikolai arrives in a helicopter to extract them. Nikolai warns the two that they will be pursued, but Price insists that MacTavish receive medical attention; Nikolai mentions that he knows a safe place to go to

OVERVIEW

Despite all I have said in the past about this game the campaign is still one of the best single player exp. out there. the Multiplayer component though is awfull and glitchy and unbalanced which really hurts the exp but over all is still a very fun game

"WASTED!"

A Review Of The Grand Theft Auto Series

After making my recent review of the Assassins Creed series on my blog I decided to continue on with them. Today I will do a review of the FULL Grand Theft Auto series

Grand Theft Auto (1997)

Rockstar Games

The year was 1998. I was 4 years old when I played my brothers copy of Grand Theft Auto. I never did much at first, I pretty much just ran around and got myself killed. But I couldn't stop playing. I continued to play this until about 2001 when I got my PS2. The game is possible one of the best PS1 games of all time. The story is pretty easy to follow and its surprisingly short. There are about 8 cutscense in the game but they are all pretty funny, the fact that they are bleeped out makes it even more funny.

My score: 8/10

Grand Theft Auto 2 (1999)

Rockstar Games/DMA Design

Grand Theft Auto 2 was mainly over looked until I found it sitting in my basement about 3 years ago. I played it and I just could not even get into it at all. The game was just a little too unrealistic for Grand Theft Auto. The only good parts were in the Trailer Park and the guy that looked like Elvis. This is a below par game that I now see why I never played it.

My Score: 5/10

Grand Theft Auto 3 (2001)

Rockstar/DMA Design

Grand Theft Auto 3 could quite possiblely be the best GTA games of all time. The stroy is exicuted wonderfully and no other GTA has been able to top the "feel" of Grand Theft Auto 3. The game was a truning point of all games. Everybody on my street wanted to play this game and they would always come to me and asked if I wanted to play it. I became off limits for a few months when my Mom found out the true nature of the game, but my Dad always found a way to get it back into my hands. My brother and I always fought for it but we eventually both ended up playing it and enjoying it

My Score: 9.5/10

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002)

Rockstar/Rockstar North

Vice City is a wonderful game, but it takes so many ideas from other "Gangster" movies from the 1980s it almost ruins it. The game is vastly improved from GTA III and includes new weapons, motorcyles, and the best of all the soundtrack. The setting of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is 1986 and they couldn't have picked a better setting than that. The sterotypical haircuts, cars, tech, music, and even the intro makes it one of the best in the series. The game was the beging of a new era of GTA games.

My Score: 9/10

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004)

Rockstar Games/Rockstar North

The game that set the high bar for expectations for free-roam sandbox ****gameplay. The abilty to go anywhere, do anything really changed the genre. The story is also very well executed which is a added plus. The game is the longest featuring 113 missions and over 50 hours of gameplay along with very strong RPG elements. High customiztion, hours of gameplay, awsome story and setting make this one - if not THE best - games in history and the best of the series.

My Score: 11/10 (Yes thats possible in my scores :P )

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (2006)

Rockstar Games/ Rockstar Leads

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories does a decent job of brideging the gap before GTA III, but I never really cared for it. Its a decent game in every way and doesn't set the high bar for anything unlike SA. It was decent enough to kill some time before GTA IV

My Score: 6.5/10

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (2006)

Rockstar Games/Rockstar Leads

The best of the two spinoffs of GTA. I use to play this all the time on my PSP when traveling. The game has alot of good features that make it one of the best early PSP games ever. The ablity to take over bisnuess and turn them into whatever you wanted added more varity to the game. The game centers around the Vance Family that is presumibly disbanded after 1984. The "feel" from GTA Vice City is back and that makes it much better.

My Score: 8/10

Grand Theft Auto IV (2008 )

Rockstar Games/ Rockstar North

Most likely the highest rated GTA of all time and I agree 100%. The game is executed so greatly in every single way that makes it one of the best games of all time. Grand Theft Auto IV's story is probably the best in the series, Niko Bellic and Balkin war veteran goes to America to see his cousin, Roman... or so you think. As the game progress you learn that his real motivation was revenge against Darko Beveric, for the first time in the series there were morality chocies, you can kill someone of let them live. Even the ending differs upon the players choices. The reality focus on this one both makes it better and demishes the expernce. The fact that there is no jets, planes, or tanks is a minus but the physics and controls makes it a plus.

My Score: 11/10 (Yes still possible)

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned (2009)

Rockstar Games/Rockstar North

I just recently was able to play this as it came out for 360 first, but when I did I was glad I spent my money buying this. I completed it 100% and it was one of the most fun expansion packs of all time. The story following a biker gang is just what GTA has been missing. Johnny Klebitz is actually pretty funny unlike most other Grand Theft Auto heros. There were alot of times in the game that I found so funny I had to play it 4 more times just to see the cutscence again (and no its not the part where the congressman has his penis out :P ) it also features a wonderful multiplayer component with a bunch of added bonuses like new game modes and connection upgrades.

My Score: 9.5/10

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad Of Gay Tony (2009)

Rockstar Games/Rockstar North

The Ballad Of Gay Tony is the final expansion pack for GTA IV and is the best of the two. It brings back the over-the-top and explosive action over the GTA III era. The story is a so-so trip but the climatic end makes playing it all that much worthwhile. There are plenty of new mini-games to play, ranging from Golf to Drug Wars to danceing Tonys night clubs that should add some more hours of fun. The scoreing on missions makes you want to replay them trough the menu on your phone which is also added in the DLC. The weapons that were added in the the DLC range from AA-12s with explosive rounds to .44 magnum pistols. Some more over-the-top vehicles were added like a helicopter that shoots unlimited missles to NOOSE Tanks with explosive rounds. All of the for a cheap price make it the best DLC ever made.

My Score: 10/10

Medal of Honor Beta First Impressions

Well, let me tell you something. I will not ever buy this game. The fact that when I tried to start it I had to instal a patch was one thing but the fact that the patch actually crashed my system made me have to write this. I right now no longer have any kind of hope that this game will be any good. If they can't even string get a beta to work, whats suppose to make me think they can make a decent Alpha. This is a major fail for EA, I will try again in a few days to see if anything has changed. If anything has changed I will write a new impressions blog, but for right now I'm giving Medal of Honor a 0/10 if thats even possible :P

Medal of Honor Beta

So I read my email today and I found out that I have been "selected" to be part of the Medal of Honor multiplayer beta! I'm probably a little late as I don't check my Email often but atleast I get to try Medal of Honors multiplayer!

A Brief Review of Assassin's Creed

A brief review of the Assassins Creed franchise

Assassins Creed (2007)

File:Assassin's Creed.jpg

When Assassins Creedwas first released in 2007(?) I thought it was nothing special. Finally one day I decided to try it and I ended up hating the gameplay of the first game. The only good part was the begging when there was actually depth to the missions that you were doing. I found the layout of it to simple, follow that guy, steal from him, go kill your first target. Then the combat could get frustrating when they pinyou against a wall and then they become relentless and haul off and kill you. I only gave it something other than a 3/10 because of the story. The story was so great that I had to change my views on it. Instead of 3/10 I give it a 7.5/10

Assassin's Creed 2 (2009)

Assassins Creed 2 cover.jpg

Three words. What a game! This game executes everything so greatly that I have played it over and over again. The story yet again is the best part. A tell of redemption that spans over 20 some years. It took everything from Assassin's Creed and make it even better. The missions are more than the mere run-here-than-there type missions, they are expansive fun missions that gradualy get better. There is also a economy system in this game unlike the first, this allows players to buy weapons, armor, paintings and other upgrades for their villa. The protagonist from the first is mentioned many times and even make a apperence in a Animus type dream. The deep story line, great missions, colorfull locations and characters make this an exprience that should not be missed by anyone looking for a revolutionary game. This game gets a 9/10

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (2010)

Assassins Creed brotherhood cover.jpg

The epic conclusion of Ezios story. Previews state that after Monteriggioni was attacked and Mario (Oh a' no ah' nota da' Mario!) died the Assassins were on the verge of collapse. The Apple of Eden was token by Borgia so naturaly Ezio travels to Rome to get it back and possible kill Borgia (again). The game seems to have a great multiplayer that I will have to try. In the preview there was a gaurd using a gun which could end up making some Desmand sections action packed. I can't wait to try this game to so what could possibly be the end of Ezios wonderful story.

So there is a breif review of one of the best games of all time. I will continue to do blogs simmilar to these until I runout of games.

Finish a campaign without being healed

This one is a pain in the ASS! Do it on Crash Course at easy difficulty. When the Tank is near let your teammates take care of it. Rank: Epic

Tank Stumble Icon

Tank Stumble

Stumble a tank with a explosion in the Crash Course campaign

I wouldn't try this with a Pipe Bomb as they tend to bounce around. Keep a Propane Tank handy. Drop it when you have to shoot but don't blow it up because they are some what rare in Crash Course.
