You cannot tell the difference and I think developers should follow suit and keep developing in 720p so they could use the processing power for effects and details. At least for graphically demanding games like this one.

If you don't have a TV bigger than 55 inches than you should know that it's nearly impossible to tell the difference between 1080p and 720p. That goes for you PC master racers too. And before someone says 'I can tell the difference' let me just say you're full of s***

The P in the number stands for Progressive scanning. All it is, is the flickering refresh rate of the pixels. 720p is half the lines refreshing back and forth faster than the eye can notice and 1080p is all of the lines refreshing at the same time. One study even suggested that 720p was the sweet spot for video games because interlacing had a better effect resulting in less jagged edges.
