Because jaggedies look terrible especially up close and on your face. Current gen isn't good enough to run immensely immersive games that make VR cool in the first place.
Long answer, this is only going to appeal to a very small group of people. I've tried VR multiple times. It's cool because you get a different perspective virtually inside a game. However look at the games that are most popular today. Literally none of them will fit into the VR world. In order to take full advantage of VR you have to develop games specifically for it and I'm pretty pessimistic that people are going to grasp the game types and even get into them. This is a fad that will come and go and this holiday season will prove that.
Ki is turning into MS's super smash brothers. I just wish it weren't so hard to pick up so I wasn't always destroying all my friends. They don't even want to play it anymore.
In other words 'you might be disappointed when you see what made you wait all this time for'. Honestly I think VR was a dumb move by Sony. The rift isn't even going to be a technology hit. VR is just another one of those technology fads that's going to pass for a 2nd time. The 3d TV failed miserably and it wasn't the price point because they weren't even that expensive. One fact remains amongst consumers, no one wants to wear anything on their heads and they're not going to pay all that money just to have one in the household. I've said it from the beginning, now watch how it plays out.
@croxus: I would disagree with you on that entirely. I upgraded to Windows 10 and I run multiple music programs and Photoshop and video software and I haven't experienced a single issue. In fact plug and play devices are much easier to connect. External hard drives functionality increased. Speed has increased. I can't find a single reason to go back. Even if your were going to wait 2-3 years is very unnecessary.
