Well of course it's a factor. However the shortage of gameplay isn't nearly as bad a thing in Madworld as it is in other games. That's because: 1. The game can get repetitive as there are only so many possible kills. The game would have gotten boring if they made it too long. 2. The game is very replayable from what I've heard. You can play a level over and over trying to get a really high score. 3. There are minigames that you can keep playing. Platinum games did say if Madworld sells that they would have no problem making a sequel. Hopefully it will and the sequel will be longer.Head_of_games
You just contradicted Point number 1 with Point number 2.
The game gets repetitive and boring if it's too long, but it's very replayable?
You can play a level over and over even if it's boring and repetitive?
- Remaining on topic, GS takes value into account on all their reviews. That's why Deadly Creatures scored lower too, even though it's twice as long as MadWorld.
[QUOTE="evrdayblues"]I was being a bit harsh, but only because all these people are kidding themselves into believing that this is the best looking game on the system and hyping the game on that characteristc alone. snover2009
Have you seen video's of the Conduit?
Nothing on the system compares to its visuals, not even Galaxy's.
The only game I expect to surpass it is the next Metroid and Zelda games.
Yup, I have seen over a dozen videos, including the tech demo for the engine.
You see, I have been following this game ever since IGN posted the engine tech demo. That is about a year ago I think. At first, I was just as impressed as you are with the visuals, because HVS was pulling off some nice technical stuff that no other 3rd party dev had done yet. Quickly enough I found that the art style was lacking, but I figured they would work on it. But you see, aside from a few aliens and a couple of weapons, the art style did not change much. That is why I am disappointed. I suppose they still have a bit of time to work on all that...
And you still fail to name a single graphicaleffect that the Conduit uses, which is not used in Galaxy. In fact, the only thing that makes Conduit more technically advanced than MP3 is the normal mapping, but since MP3 has a beautiful art direction and runs silky smooth at 60 frames per second, I would say Prime 3 tops it, nonetheless.
I consider getting 120 beating the game. It would be awful to stop after 60, you'd be missing so much content.Englando_IVExactly, The game is designed so that every one of the 120 stars is fun to get. Go get em!
[QUOTE="evrdayblues"]Apart from some of the aliens, the game looks bad. Swallow it.AlexSaysThe people saying the game looks flat-out horrible are just as bad as those saying it looks amazing. The game looks decent technically, and okay artistically. It's neither amazing nor horrible. Yeah, it doesn't look flat-out horrible, that is true. The tech behind it is certainly solid. I was being a bit harsh, but only because all these people are kidding themselves into believing that this is the best looking game on the system and hyping the game on that characteristc alone. I'm more excited about the smooth gameplay and the ASE mechanic.
[QUOTE="Head_of_games"] First of all, art isn't everything. From a technical perspective the game is incredibly realistic for a Wii game. And we can't say the whole game looks generic when we've only seen a few levels. And if it is generic looking, it will probably be so darn fun we won't even notice. And how can you call it generic when so far there is absolutely nothing like it on the Wii? This game isn't trying to be a halo/killzone/gears killer, it's just trying to be great considering the system it is on. And if this game succeeds, it opens the door for other devs to make games of the same type but even better and possibly on par with those of the 360/PS3.HaziqonfireActually, HVS themselves said they were trying to bring a Halo/Killzone/Gears/etc like experience on the Wii with The Conduit and thats why it looks like that/feels like those games. And it doesn't matter how many levels I see of the game -- it looks generic, from the enviornments to the characters -- And as I've said, it might look technically impressive but thats only half the job -- and realistic games dont work on the Wii, considering its limited hardware when compared to the other consoles -- thats why its better to create a unique direction in art to utilize the consoles assets effectively. I can call it generic because the Wii isn't the only console on the market ;) -- Yes, nothing like this is on the Wii, but it doesn't mean I'm going to completely ignore everything similar offered on the other consoles, past and present. Look, I don't know why your getting so upset about my opinion on the game -- I'm not bashing it, in fact I support what HVS is doing -- I just think the art direction is ugly, otherwise it'll be a fun game for people who are fans of the FPS genre. HVS target audience is not me -- its FPS fans that own a Wii only -- I am neither a Wii only owner or a fan of FPS. Yes, I don't understand why Head of Games is still arguing. If he read my post from a few pages back, he would have seen that I explained why art direction is so important on Wii. Here is part of it: " And yes art style counts for a lot on Wii. The console does not have the same rendering capabilities as a PC. On Wii, if a game looks good, it is usually because of the art direction. So a game that is being hyped for being the best looking Wii game should have a good art direction. The generic design does nothing to help you forget that the tech has aged. I just don't like to see people fooling themselves, that's all. " And NO, the Conduit does NOT look realistic. Please stop fooling yourselves, and stop being stubborn! Hype the game for having great gameplay/control, but not based on the visuals. Apart from some of the aliens, the game looks bad. Swallow it.
