@derceto Last game I really loved from Blizzard was War3. WoW was good for a couple of years, but abandoning the RTS Warcraft games and putting out a retro style RTS in SC2 was a big mistake.
Maybe they'll have picked up a few pointers from Relic's recent games.
@jtthegame316 AAA has really become an ambiguous term. It's any game with a large budget. AC hasn't been very good recently, but Ubisoft would probably still qualify that franchise as AAA. I'd say it's mediocre.
Same problem LoL had. What happens when the pairing goes badly? Do I have to play the entire game to not get a negative outcome against my rep rating? Not quitting and wasting 5 mins on XBL or 60 mins on LoL isn't worth it to maintain a rep level.
At least they're trying, but the pug problem still exists.
@Raeldor The problem is still ownership. Buying a $3-$10 book from Amazon is different than a $60 game from Sony/MS.
The issue is that games hold too much value if you buy them new and beat them quickly. Basically, the used game market indicates that games are overpriced and don't provide a lot of long term value.
What would be more interesting is how many times an individual game disc turnovers i.e. changes hands. Maybe the discussion should be around not how bad consumers are or how bad the retails system is, but about the pricing issues inherent in today's video games ... whether that's a developer issue or a publisher issue.
It's funny that everyone rails on Gamestop even though they could just as easily buy most games from a lot of other retailers. Yeah, Gamestop sucks ... hardcore sucks, but there is competition in the market.
If GS didn't provide any additional value in the supply chain, they'd go out of business like Tower Records or Blockbuster. Everyone screaming about used games and then not doing anything about it is childish.
