[QUOTE="F1Lengend"]

I just finished my first assassin. This to me seems like a game i will remember for years to come after all the other ones I played will probably fade out of memory. That includes COD4, Bioshock, Warhawk, and most likely all of the other games I played this year. Looking back at xbox/Ps2 days, the ones I instantly recall are Halo CE, MGS2/3, FFX, GoW, Shenmue 2, Orta, and SotC. For this gen, Oblivion is one already, and now Assassins creed.

I really dig the combat, im not sure what you guys dont like about it. It doesnt bog the game down, and it looks pretty cool. They could have added a little more Splinter Cell into it, in the stealth aspect, or moving bodies, but overall I like it. I could repetition coming into play, but I hope the missions are decently varied. What I like most is that they came up with an ambitious concept that not many would try and for the most part, pulled it off. Not necessarily the story, but the gameplay/setting.

I highly doubt you are going to forget about Bioshock, despite all of its flaws, that game remains one of the most atmospheric to grace a next-gen console. I played through it again recently, and I still found myself fascinated with its world.

I loved Bioshock, too. It's definitely a game I want to replay if I can find the time. Assassin's Creed is guaranteed to be another memorable game for me, and I'm only at about 8 hours. I'm doing absolutely everything I can, although I probably won't kill myself trying to find every flag. I'll do everything there is to do in town, though! Yeah, it can be repetitive, but it's always, always fun. And I think that's the point.

Heavenly Sword - a prettier God of War with nice hair animation

God of War isn't '90s and the comparison is still ridiculous. Heavenly Sword made leaps in animation, voiceovers, visuals, and game acting in general. To call it a "prettier God of War with nice hair animation" is the most ridiculously stupid thinig I've ever heard.

Final Fantasy - not innovative in the slightest any more, it's the Dynasty Warriors of the RPG genre IMO

Never played a single Final Fantasy game, I see.

Mario Galaxy - not as revolutionary as it is very good at refining the platformer

Since when is every Mario supposed to be "revolutionary?" "Revolution" tends to happen once every great while; just becaue the '90s marked a gigantic turning point in the industry doesn't mean every single new installment in a major series from now on is going to redefine gaming.

Zelda - Heh, it's pretty much been the same game since the first one. Although it did improve upon it self.

Yes. Twilight Princess is exactly the same as A Link to the Past. ...you can't be actively serious.

COD4 - It's a pretty looking FPS.

Yeah, just a prettier version of Half-Life, right? Superior physics, animation, sound, depth, and just about every other category we score games in...that apparently doesn't matter.

I expected to see games like Okami, Psychonauts, Fatal Frame and the like.

I'm getting awfully sick and tired of the elitist gaming mentality that says games "suck" now because not every title critics enjoy is starting a whole new genre. Seriously, get the F over yourselves.

Have you played Heavenly Sword? The motion capture and facial work is among the best in the medium. Period.

Yeah, there are fair criticisms that can be made about Heavenly Sword, but this isn't one of them. Nothing touches the quality of this game's mo-cap.

It's why I asked in the first place. Anybody who says what he said clearly hasn't played it.

I like the graphics but I'm disappointed in the facial animations. You see there lips moving correctly but everything else isn't. This is one thing that it seems only Valve knows how to do.

EndersAres

Nope, Ninja Theory's Heavenly Sword was amazing in that respect. Better than Valve - or anyone else - has ever done, in fact.

That's your opinion. Not fact. Same with your review post and lets leave it at that.

Okay. But it's still the best I've ever seen. Question is, have YOU seen it?

Our review is up if anyone is interested. Here's the link, but I believe the most important part of what I wrote is pasted below.

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-reviews/79.html

"Assassin's Creed wants to be the best of the best. It strives for interactive nirvana and seeks to provide the player with one of those games that stands head-and-shoulders above anything else, and for quite a long time. But as hard as they tried and as much as we want to say it, they don't quite reach that uber-ambitious goal. It almost seems as if the humungous world they created and the idea that lies beneath the premise was too big to embrace; it was simply beyond current development possibilities. On the other hand, Ubisoft Montreal did come close, which means we end up with a great game. It's one of the best of this new generation and proves two things: 1. just how far the industry has come, and 2. just how far it can go. We continually catch glimpses of video game revolution in Creed, and sooner or later, we'll get more than just glimpses. For now, though, we'll take this. We'll take it because it's fun, beautiful, accomplished, challenging, original, atmospheric, detailed and even breathtaking. Those who can view this one in either 720p or 1080i high-definition are in for a real treat.

Oh, and one last thing- anybody who awards this game less than an 8.5 needs surgery to remove the elitist "hey, I did that before and there's a pop-in; this game is only average now" mentality. Seriously, get over yourself."

[QUOTE="sonicare"]A JRPG with kid heroes? That certainly narrows things down :PSemiMaster

He didn't say young adult vaguely metrosexuals though. That sorta narrows it down.

He didn't say "cookie-cutter fantasy all-look-alike D&D photos," either. So he's not being all that specific the whole way 'round.

I'd just like to pop in and say I have Aaron's old job as Editor-in-Chief of PSX Extreme, and while we were passing each other at the time, I did get to know him a little bit. I have respect for his work in the past and his reviewing style, although I have questioned a lot of his scores he has handed out recently. He gave Shadow of the Colossus a 7 when he was with PSXE, and that's just something I don't understand, nor do I understand this review score.

But being a reviewer myself, I think we all have to cut the crap and realize that everyone is entitled to an analytical opinion when it comes to games, even though not every aspect of said analysis is entirely subjective. Even if you don't agree with the points he makes in the review...he still makes the points, regardless. I certainly can't agree with the overall score, but I'm not about to bash a fellow critic, especially when I've come under fire for similar reasons in the past.
