I'm going to give building my first PC a shot soon, and I think I've got the parts mostly picked out. I've got about $2000 to spend, and this should come pretty close (I do have a little 'wiggle room' if I need to). Is this rig a) going to run newer stuff (Obilvion, FEAR, etc) well, and b) not too complex for a first timer?

Here's the specs;

Case: Antech Performance One P180

CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600

MoBo: Asus p5N32-sli

RAM: Kingston HyperX P2 6400 (2x1gb)

Video: Nvidia 8800 GTX

Sound: Creative X-Fi

DVD: Probably a Samsung Writemaster (for LightScribe, I think it's cool)

HDD: 2x250 gb in raid 0, not sure exactly which ones

PSU: Thermaltake 750W

Mouse: Razer Diamondback

Keyboard: Logitech g15

Monitor: Dell 22in HD widescreen (may add later, depends on total price beforehand)

Finally, is there a better site for parts than newegg? I can't find one. Thanks for any suggestions!

The 680i problems can be fixed with a BIOS update. Do that before you install your hard drives (or at least before you install your operating system), and you shouldn't run into any problems.RayvinAzn

Will there be a huge change in performance between the E6600 and the E6700? I went to toms hardware and there was little bit of a diffrence. The only real diffrence i saw was the price between them so is the E6700 really worth it money is not really the issue its just if im going to spend about $200 more i want there to me a huge diffrence. Also I was planning on getting one of the 680i mobo

Also one last thing do you like this case? http://pc.gamespy.com/articles/767/767965p4.htmlhttp://pc.gamespy.com/articles/767/767965p4.html
(look at the bottom of this page) normally this case is blue but i was going to do what gamespy did and replace the fans with quiter green fans. there are like 5 fans in the case so the temprature inside the case should stay pretty low prob around 32C at its highest
ok thankyou for your help

ok so i was play CoH and i thought that i would check all my settings to see if they were maxed out. and yesterday there was a patch for CoH and in that patch it must of added dx10 to CoH. under shader quality it goes low, medium, high, DX10. sure this may not but be full dx10 but it is coming now there might be a reason to upgrade to vista....maybe in the next month or so or just wait longer , i dn when i will upgrade prob not for a while.....not sure if anyone has noticed this

If you are building a comp how big of a moniter do u want? and how big of a hard drive do you want? If you want a prebuilt get a Voodo pc.
