I picked up a DSLR camera yesterday and I've been playing around with it. Everyone says the same thing. Don't use flash, auto focus sucks, and don't use auto mode.

I've been practicing for the past two days. I took these two shots today.

I need more practice though, but it's been fun learning so much about photography. It's pretty awesome.

On another note, Super Mario Maker looks amazing.

Jordan I know exactly what you mean, I'm the same way when kids throw their baseball and it lands on my lawn and when they play the rap music on their beat boomers too loud.

Seriously though, gamers in general annoy me and Ive withdrawn from all of my boards except this lounge because everything makes my head hurt. The culture has become one of entitlement and the need to hate something one dislikes rather than just taking it for what it is and moving on. It's utterly pathetic and I choose not to be associated with it.

I usually don't ignore and I just make fun of them and laugh. I do a lot of drive by posts on NeoGAF where I call someone an idiot and don't check the thread again lol.

Giving criticism is a way for the game to grow to be better, if people are going to perfectly fine with all the flaws in the game, you are telling Nintendo that is ok that they dont have these things. People who overlook the flaws are doing more harm to the game

It's fine to be critical. I just don't think it's that big of a deal if you have to wait two months for more content. It'd be different if Nintendo hadn't stated what plans (if any) they had for adding more content -- and if they were charging additional money for it. It's free, everyone had been made aware of it prior to launch and we'll see regular updates for 3 months. None of that sounds horrible to me. It's worse when a developer releases a game with a ton of bugs and glitches at launch and tries to ignore it first, and then update it throughout the year. See Battlefield 4.

None of what you're saying is wrong. The thing I find annoying is that the way Nintendo has handled it is better than what most other publishers do, and in the end it ends up not being a big deal considering you can choose to just not buy the game if you really don't approve of it. Buy it when you think the value proposition is better.

@lord_magikarp: They rushed it out to hit the early summer time slot. The fact that they're releasing major features in August kind of proves that, in my eyes. But that's not laziness. If anything, they had to work harder to get a working package together by the end of May. There's a business reality there that has to be considered.

All I'm trying to say is that there are legitimate reasons for these decisions, even if they end up being the wrong decisions in the end. It helps to try to understand what they might be. Calling it laziness just seems like you're avoiding any attempt at understanding what might actually be behind the decisions. Map rotation was clearly a conscious decision, not some kind of lazy oversight. Same with how you change weapons. There are reasons for these things. Their logic may be flawed (probably due to inexperience), but that doesn't mean they didn't try at all.

The base point is that Nintendo has made some mistakes with their game, whether or not it was drawn from inexperience, for people to overlook these mistakes and praise the game for being a perfect masterpiece is a bigger disservice the gaming community. It really feels like an early access title packaged as done and for 60$, as it stands right now, Nintendo needs to create some patches to justify the price point

What I don't understand about people who are upset by this is that if it's really a big deal for you to pay $60 for an 'early access package', then don't buy in right now. They announced ahead of release that there's going to be more content added on throughout the summer. If the value proposition is more enticing for you by the end of August, what's the big deal in waiting two more months?

Sounds like Splatoon is off to a good start in terms of sales. Good deal for those who bought the game because I imagine it's replay value will dependent on having a very active community.

I've been playing it. I really like it! It's super enjoyable and it's actually a pretty unique spin on a shooter. The online has been problem free too.

you know who else had an android based os...

That's not really how I interpreted it. It seems like they'll be using the AOSP and heavily modifying it for themselves, while taking all the APIs and goodies that'll make it easier for developers to bring their projects over.

Essentially, I think this will basically be transparent to the consumers -- by the sounds of it, it's not going to be anything like Ouya.

This was posted on GoNintendo.

According to an insider who talked with Nikkei, the OS for the NX could be Android based. When third-parties dropped the Wii U, it caused a turning point inside of the company. Nintendo seems to be ready to embrace a more open platform, which creates flexibility and ensures that the same content can also be played on smartphones and tables. Is this all true and is Nintendo moving away making all the hardware concepts themselves? Only time will tell.

This kind of aligns back to what Iwata has said in their past briefing Q&A reports.

Last year we also started a project to integrate the architecture for our future platforms. What we mean by integrating platforms is not integrating handhelds devices and home consoles to make only one machine. What we are aiming at is to integrate the architecture to form a common basis for software development so that we can make software assets more transferrable, and operating systems and their build-in applications more portable, regardless of form factor or performance of each platform. They will also work to avoid software lineup shortages or software development delays which tend to happen just after the launch of new hardware.

Still, I am not sure if the form factor (the size and configuration of the hardware) will be integrated. In contrast, the number of form factors might increase. Currently, we can only provide two form factors because if we had three or four different architectures, we would face serious shortages of software on every platform.

To cite a specific case, Apple is able to release smart devices with various form factors one after another because there is one way of programming adopted by all platforms. Apple has a common platform called iOS. Another example is Android. Though there are various models, Android does not face software shortages because there is one common way of programming on the Android platform that works with various models. The point is, Nintendo platforms should be like those two examples.

Whether we will ultimately need just one device will be determined by what consumers demand in the future, and that is not something we know at the moment. However, we are hoping to change and correct the situation in which we develop games for different platforms individually and sometimes disappoint consumers with game shortages as we attempt to move from one platform to another, and we believe that we will be able to deliver tangible results in the future.

GoNintendo.

Nintendo has flat out denied this rumour.

You can watch the trailer below.

Loading Video...

More flashy moves and the combat looks faster. It's scheduled for Winter 2015 in Japan, so if it comes out world wide it'll probably be sometime in 2016.
