There's no way you can really moderate something like that online. It sounds cliche, but the best thing to do is ignore them. There's tools in most online games where you can mute players and in some cases, report them for their behaviour. Do that, avoid confrontation, it's a waste of time.

Whenever I hear a slur tossed at me I laugh it off. I have no time for it. All I know is I was raised better than people like that ever could be and I'm far more educated. They're literally not even on my level and not worth the effort.

Satoru Iwata
President, Nintendo Co., Ltd.

Thank you very much for your continued extraordinary support of us. I am Satoru Iwata, President of the company.

Today, there is one thing that I would like to share with you.

Recently, as the result of one of my routine physical examinations, an issue was detected. Following a more detailed examination, a growth was found in my bile duct.

In general, it is said that a bile duct growth can be difficult-to-treat, partly because of the difficulty of detecting it early. In my case, luckily, it was detected very early and I had no symptoms.

I was counseled that removal at an early stage would be the desirable medical option. Therefore I had surgery last week, and I came through it well, as predicted.

I have already resumed my business by email and by other means, but it is anticipated that a little more time is needed for me to return to my regular work schedule.

As a result, I have no choice but to miss the company’s very important activity, the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, to be held this month. As the president of the company, I regret that I cannot attend the meeting. However, I understand that I have to prioritize my medical treatment and to recover as soon as possible so that I will again be able to do my best to help the company to grow. I hope that you understand.

Best Regards,

Satoru Iwata

I certainly hope he gets better. Say what you want about Iwata, but he's a charismatic Nintendo figure and certainly one of the best CEOs in the industry.

Source.

@JordanElek: It's fun when you go to a bar or you're walking around the city and you see the games being shown on TV all over. They don't really do that with Hockey here, unless you go into a sports bar. Soccer is probably the biggest sport worldwide, so I guess it's not too surprising.

If Microsoft buys them lets hope they dont Rare them.

Make them 5 times more profitable than they were before?

God that would be awful, all those jobs and expanding the industry, goodness no!

You guys are both wrong.

Rare was pretty garbage even before Nintendo sold them to Microsoft.

Rare continues to be garbage even under Microsoft, I'm sure they regret buying Rare all together at this point.

It's really interesting watching the world cup in Toronto. We're pretty diverse here, so I see a ton of fans supporting the different countries.

It's great at work too since we have a TV in our cafe, the games are always on. Right now it looks like the top two teams will probably be Netherlands and Germany, it's pretty interesting that the teams that normally do well aren't doing well - Brazil, Portugal, Italy, Spain, England... lol.

I'm an idiot and bought the 3DS XL again and still have my 3DS OG. I missed the big screens, but I'm lucky that the 3DS OGs are being phased out -- so I can sell mine for a fairly decent price further down the line, plus I got the XL on a sale - I got blue.

This just means they'll ride out the storm until their next console.

Even with the games announced at E3 I don't think they'll make a significant dent in the market, unless they drop the price, which they're not willing to do right now.

@roboccs: I tried getting into baseball... I just can't. It's a sport I'd rather play than watch, any day.

No, because Capcom's current direction doesn't align with Nintendo at all.

Capcom has moved towards mobile and their strategy has been heavily focused there. You'll likely see a company that aligns with mobile buy Capcom before you'd ever see Nintendo, or even Sony and Microsoft, making the attempt.
