@philip6k: Pretty sure they are more referring to the ambiguous title stating 1k per minute in its first year, when really it was only 1k per minute in its first 82 minutes. A huge difference compared to what the purposely ambiguous headline would initially lead many to believe.
@Spartan_418: The bigger issue is the unreal expectation all these fan projects are potentially putting on the actual games. Take the Halo one for instance, sure it was very pretty but the engine was already hitting its budget several times through the video and it didn't even have things like AI, enemies or even a dynamic lighting systems running. Even with Starfield, people really need to temper their expectations and remember the game has been in development for quite some time, so the engine is going to be years old at this point, not to mention I believe its still just technically an updated version of the creation engine.
@chaosemerald: It was a balance issue originally, which is why in Reach they made a specific mode for Elites vs Spartans but you couldn’t play as an Elite model in normal gamemodes.
Due to the original elite model being more hunched, it caused them to have relatively large heads which made headshots easier to land on Elites and also caused their heads to stick out from behind certain types of cover. It also made it quite hard to land a headshot on an Elite when shooting at them from behind which gave them an advantage in game types where you might normally be in a situation where you would be chasing opponents rather than facing them head to head such as chasing the flag carrier in CTF. Essentially almost nobody really played as an Elite in competitive modes due to how easy it was to land a headshot in a direct firefight.
Essentially it was a balance nightmare for competitive gamemodes, hence the change with Reach where they specifically balanced the Elites and Spartans differently and forced them into separate teams. Elites were larger, faster, had weaker shields that regenerated faster and had more health and regenerated health but spawned with weaker weapons, whilst Spartans were smaller and harder to hit, had higher shields but longer regeneration and needed to collect health packs to restore health and they immediately spawned with precision weapons.
@Poidad: Lekgolo, they are the worms that make up what most people know as Hunters.
You only ever see the worms in Halo 3 I believe. If you shoot the orange weakspot, you see the orange worms come flying out and disappear. In Halo 5 I believe you also see the worms sliding down a window into a suit of armour forming the Hunter you fight during that level.
They also featured heavily in the live action movie Nightfall with Locke.
@jpme226: Surely your smart enough to realise he is talking about actual themes and values rather then literally monsters and dragons. Everyone at some point in their life has struggled with things like hardship, stress, frustration, anger, perseverance, helplessness etc. and depending on how difficult you find the game, these are all things you might experience and be able to overcome in a safer environment where you can take out your anger and frustration on the game rather then your friends and family.
They backed themselves into a corner with their stupid progression system. They can't add a slayer only playlist without killing the objective only playlists (as has been evident in all past games, especially in lower population countries), and if they kill most of their playlists off except slayer, most players won't be able to complete their challenges and thus progress on their battlepasses, hence many players just won't buy anything and they lose out on all that revenue. Anyone should have seen this coming from a mile away but until the progression system is fixed, or they can be sure they will still have continued revenue in the short term, they will delay a slayer only playlist for as long as possible.
They just need to scrap the challenge system and go back to something like the XP systems in reach or Halo 5 and leave the challenges as a series of milestones people can work towards for a bulk XP boost every now and then like they were in previous games. In the short term, its not like most players aren't treating every mode like slayer anyway. If you just want to kill, go kill players, its not like winning or losing matters outside of ranked play.
It might have sold a lot but it remains to be seen whether its really going to be a long term success story. I myself gave the game a try since I have caught up with FFXIV and am waiting for its new expansion. I watched much of the beta and none of what I saw convinced me the game would be any good, but regardless, I figured I might as well try it out myself because I could and after a week or so, I can honestly say that once I've moved onto many of the new games coming out over the next couple months and when Endwalker finally launches, I won't even think twice about New World, it just does nothing really unique, nor does it stand out and everything it does do somewhat well is mediocre at best compared to better MMOs. I'd be surprised if this has anything but a small dedicated playerbase in 6-12 months time.
@chisoxrule:He was the most requested character many years ago when they put it to a poll in Japan and remained so even in more recent polls in 2019/20. Plus he is still very popular in Japan, which many of the characters cater towards.
