not always, and if you developers wanted to keep link silent they could. I mean look at what they did to the first Jak and Daxter Jak never talked(until the second game,and they made jokes about it too). But yes its possible to have VA with out having the protagonist speak and its something nintendo needs to look into

I don't see him not talking in cut scenes and it working how long can you have a cut scene and him just do grunts and yells? Eventually it will look stupid.

Link will NEVER have voice acting, nor will Mario...its just meant to be that way, and it always will be, no matter what. I wouldn't want a game where Link yells "EAT THIS" It just ain't right...
