Played from 2004 to 2008. It was a huge step forward in gaming - so huge it became popular to hate it after its long reign. That's how most people behave when something becomes popular - I think it's kind of funny.
It's time is really stretching though - something else needs to take another big step as far as MMORPGs. If CCP can do a great job with World of Darkness (I love the complexity of EVE Online) I'm hoping THAT will be it.
@Printul_Noptii Censorship is a good tactic to increase the general tension and repression of an entire culture. It leads to violent outbursts and all kinds of criminal acts via pent up unbridled emotion that politicians love to create laws for that provide them with more money, power and influence to further oppress said people(s). It's one weapon (among many) of choice for thousands of years used by those who would keep you in chains you can't even see.
@jsmoke03 @floydshayvious I'd beg to differ - you don't have to be concious of your desire to create stress for yourself. (I'm not saying ALL depression is an illusion).
Wow an update lol - been following for a long time now.
If they can do this right.... if they can just DO THIS RIGHT!!
All the lore.
All the clans.
All the tribes.
All the races. (Including humans).
A decent modern setting with a world of workable size with reasonable character generation/customization options with a graphic style that fits (I'm not saying some insane number of polygons just a graphic style that FITS), and a good score/soundtrack.
The game systems wouldn't even have to be innovative that much if at all.
IMAGINE.
This could really be a great, great, great MMORPG!
@Poinciana @floydshayvious I think an aversion to complexity breeds hate, fear and ignorance for any form of novelty or human difference - and ofcourse dumber games to make $$$. But I do think this problem applies to the entire globe - not just US or the game industry.
