I know that Diablo 3 saves after you complete a quest (checkpoint) but is that it? I recently started in town, did some exploring and fighting and returned to town with much gold and experience. When I went back the next day, it was not there. Is there a way to force a save? Or is the only save "checkpoint reached"?

Also is it possible to grind? I'd like to just jump in and play casual and get gold and XP, but if there is no save and progress is limited to checkpoints, it may not be possible. Or is it?

I have the Brady guide, but I did not find anything specific (yet) on these points.

Thanks

Frank

P.S. There is a great iPad version of the Diablo 3 Brady guide in the App store.

Just started playing, great game, but not liking the save option...or lack of. After the first mission I fought a lot and leveled up, then exited. Went back and all the leveling up was gone. It jumped back to the latest checkpoint.

Does a real save open up as you advance? How do you get the game to save? Or does it only save after a checkpoint? It seems a game that is this wide open, and so many sidequests, would only save after a story mode checkpoint would be very limiting.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Was this the first time you ran it? I did not see it the first time I ran it. I had to go through cut scenes and different missions before I could save (might have been around the time I got the rooftop place). I think with the second new game you get save right away but correct me if I am wrong.

Infamous in the beginning has cut scenes and scenarios to introduce you to the game, game play, controls, etc. It is not until later, maybe an hour or so into it, that you are allowed to save games. I assumed if I started fresh the game would see the saved files, but it does not seem to be the case. I don't want to replay 90 minutes of tutorial. After googling this, I am also hearing that the disc based saves and download saves are not cross-compatable. Some it works for, so it does not (again I have yet to download the download version) Just trying to find someone who did it so see what the method is....

I played Infamous (1) for many hours, backed up the save file, then formatted/reset my PS3. Copied the save file back on...however it seems like I need to replay the game. There is no option at the beginning to load a save. Do I need to keep playing through to a certain point?

I was thinking about getting the download version with the Welcome Back program, but not if I need to replay a big chunk of the game just to get to the load/save option.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The latest patch worked fine for me, played for several hours. It's only yesterday I started to have problems. I don't want to go back 3-4 hours to an old save file. Not sure what to do at this point...

I installed the latest update and a day later read on the web to "not install the update", so I have it installed. In 17 hours of play I only had one weird problem where there was no sound for a section. Otherwise, it's run great. Now in the past few days I have had 2 lockups and I can't even get into the Aces Theater section, it just loads then goes to black. Total crash, have to reboot the Xbox. I save often and have not lost saves, but it is very annoying..especially now since it just started acting up, Was just wondering how to uninstall updates and/or if I should.

15-20 hours in, looking for Bennys room and entered Aces Theater and it is black and the game crashes. Every time. What do I do? I have installed all updates, the original and two recent ones. Can I delete certain updates? I have plenty of game saves along the way. advice? Thanks!

Just got Fallout New Vegas and want to try the no-kill path..anything I should choose at the start? Any tips/techniques/advice to get it rolling the first hour or so?

And..can it really be done?

Thanks!
