NASA's funding is only a drop in the bucket of our nation's spending, it's just under $18 billion. There are much greater wastes of funds, such as military defense spending. In a single year the military budget spends more money than the entire NASA budget to date. Plus NASA's spending is economically stimulative, creating new aerospace companies, creating for technological advancements in just about every facet of society, creates jobs and generates tax revenues. Anyhow, what do you really think would happen if say some right wing congress decided NASA was a waste and decided to cut its funding entirely? They'd kill it without hesitation, even if feeding the needy was a justification. Then when it came to actually using that saved $18 billion to feed the needy, do you think they'd actually do it? Hell no they wouldn't. They'd probably cut the Department of Energy, Department of Education, Department of Whatever, and pass tax cuts for the wealthy, cut all kinds of regulations on workplace and environmental safety, abolish the minimum wage, abolish child labor laws, abolish civil rights laws, abolish abortion, and still feeding the needy will take a back seat to a day of golfing for John Boehner. Now stop making threads and go get a bottle of hooch for your daddy before he ends up beating you with the buckle side of the belt. Summer is coming, when daddy sends you to that faux-religious right wing brainwashing Jesus camp I'm sure that "I fell down the stairs" excuse is going to get old, they might start asking if your daddy touches you and bring out a doll to point to the spots.

Ever wonder why you never here any major physics breakthrough coming from autistic 14 year olds? It's because while they can learn to replicate the math (not understand it) they do not understand the purpose and goals of physics and are completely incapable of contributing to the field.
The only time savants innovate is in mathematics and even that is rare, applied sciences and physics are to broad in scope for them to handle so they focus on what already exists not making new theories.

Calling someone a neo-con is like me calling your or Obama communists. And nothing has changed since the last election. I am still a non pot smoker favoring legalization, still fiscally and military conservative. Still personally not for gay marriage, but if people decided in my state that's what we want then fine. I believe in Representative Democracy. Still against the Iraq war, but all for defense where we need it. Still against Patriot Act and drone strikes. Still against big and expanding government and Social and corporate welfare. I mean I could go on, and on, and still wouldn't be "neo-con".
