does arc the lad 3 have its own unique story or is it a direct continuation of 1 and 2?

ok i just beat grandia and i have to say it is now my favorite jrpg(large part due to combat system), but are the other 2 games in the series worth getting.

I was going to say this, but thank you. The Orcs were the villains to take on in WC1 and 2 and, like frann said, they were controlled by outside forces, if I recall correctly, who are much worse than the orcs.
