pure socialism is nothing but a burden on the people. it creates weak and poor states and causes humanity to grow lazy in atrophy

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] 5. Teachers Unions. It's hard to remove ineffective teachers. Feel free to disagree...but those are some of the problems with education.mmwmwmmwmwmm

so u want to go back to the industrial revolution? unions are beneficial to keep crporations from making workers wipe their ass

fvck no the industrial revolution is the worst thing to happen to this country except for the constitution. and republiCANT that's clever haha. i hate rich people.

i agree about the constitution bit, but the industrial revolution was a period of immense progress.

[QUOTE="frannkzappa"]

you really need to read anything by Plato.

Stesilaus

Plato was a pretentious, pseudo-intellectual jerk.

Athens' Golden Age was over by the time Plato gained any prominence, and he did nothing to restore it.

Once Socrates had taken his sip of the hemlock tea, Plato should just have drained the cup.

:|

...

i would be offended if that came from anyone else...

[QUOTE="Oleg_Huzwog"]Looks closer to old-school Godzilla, and less like the overgrown T-Rex version from the 90's.m0zart

I liked the overgrown T-Rex version. I also loved the camp of that movie, such as the Ebert/Siskel parody and the stupid reporter fighting. The fact that they blamed it all on the French Government's nuclear testing was just a hilarious take on the original premise. I watched it again during the years when the Bush government was contending with France (the era when some congressman wanted to rename "French Fries" to "Freedom Fries"), and I wondered how much better the film would have been received if it had just been released a few years later with the new political climate. Either way it was comically stupid, and enhanced my enjoyment of the film.

It was something of a "so bad it's good" film for me.

you should hear what sour kraut became during ww1.

liberty cabbage.

You can get a free account on crunchyroll and hulu. Both have a pretty good selection.

Or even better you can drop streaming and go with downloads.

do people not know you can watch nearly every anime ever made for free on the internet?

why do people pay for Netflix and crunchy roll to watch anime?

[QUOTE="Laihendi"] Galt's speech is about 60 pages in my copy, but the others are relatively short. Francisco's money speech is only about 5 pages.Laihendi

do you actually enjoy that speech? cmon, as much as you like rand, you have to admit those long-winded speeches are contrived and add little to the book; it almost seems as if rand wrote those parts for the people who are to too dense to pick up her philosophy thru interpretation

btw, what's your favourite of rand's works?

Galt's speech is excellent. It is undoubtedly the greatest speech I have ever read or listened to. The monologues add a degree of philosophical depth not present elsewhere in her novels. My favourites are Galt's speech, Francisco's money speech, and in The Fountainhead Toohey's "how to rule souls" speech. Also my favourite book by Rand is Atlas Shrugged.

you really need to read anything by Plato. he out speaks Rand by miles.

The titles look a lot less legible in this post than they did on my screen, but oh well.

Oh yeah, my e-books:

i can't make out where the communist manifesto is.

Red book, few books left of Plato's complete works, titled Marx: Selected Writings.

a must have.

[QUOTE="GamingTitan"]

well I like hulu plus and crunchyroll becuase i have become very happy watching it on a 60" tv from the comfort of my couch. I couldn't care less about the small fee that i have to pay~

GamingTitan

but their selection is so limited.

yeah that does present a problem at times but there is still alot of good stuff. For instance watching Attack on Titan on my tv while laying on the couch is worth the price of admission all by itself.

I still do watch some stuff on my computer though if its a must see anime and its not on hulu/netflix/crucnyroll~

my computer is hooked up to my t.v so i guess i never saw the allure.

[QUOTE="lowkey254"] You have no idea of what you're talking about. lowkey254

are you telling me that no debates exist on the credibility of modern psychology?

No, I'm telling you that you don't know what you're talking about. There are countless articles detailing research done in the field of psychology and other social sciences. To say that psychology is a "pseudo science" is ridiculous and shows a lack of any real knowledge in the field.

many argue that it is. and a look at history shows just how much of a pseudo science psychology is.
