Naw dude, IMO you're fine til next year, probably. If you wanted to, you could spring for the Phenom's or new DDR3 stuff, but You have a pretty high end rig that will do well until next year, then it becomes midrange.

It's the "light" version of the 680i

The 650i isn't bad, but I think that you will only get 8X speed if you use SLI, while on the 680i / 680i LT you get the normal 16X PCI-E speeds. I may be wrong though. If you don't use SLI, then it's solid, but have  you checked the 680i LT prices?

If you're looking for good mid-range performance, a 7600GT or 7900GS would suit your needs much better than a mere 8600GT

My setup runs R6V at 800 x 600 at 50FPS while I'm not shooting mexicans. It'll drop to the teens in a dense firefight. Let's put that in perspective.

Looks good. You thinking about an OS and monitor?

I think that system can run most games on fairly high settings. Not Supreme Commander, or Rainbow Six. But Battlefield 2 for sure, HL2, those games will probably be maxed out.

Really? I can tell that your P4 kept the costs down, eh? 9/10 for the P4, but kudos for the great budgeting. I like the lights as well. Good job.
