Haven't played it myself but I have a friend who really likes Shadow of the Colossus (PS2 game).

You beat me to the punch.

the scale is simply amazing! you actually feel small compared to the gigantic akrid.

If you wanna feel really small, Shadow of the Colossus will most definitely ellicit that feeling from you. It's for the PS2 as mentioned and as good as it is, it has some technical problems like frame rate issues. It's a very minor problem since it never really hampers your advancement through the game.

jes it sure does, not only to react faster and more precise but to avoid any wrist pain toojohan1986
You know, when I read this I went, "Yeah...my wrist kinda hurts right now. I better get one of those high-end gaming mice." The ergonomics of my cheap mouse is terrible and I'm only getting older as the days go by.

[QUOTE="mo0ksi"]Too many to name, but one would be Homeworld. When I first played it a few months ago I was amazed on how there's still no RTS quite like it.

This. This game rocks and still rocks the RTS genre. No other game like it.

Top notch graphics, excellent sound & great voice acting will draw you in. Later on though, you'll realize how each assassination assignment works out the same way (the repetitive part everyone never fails to mention). Eventually you'll just try to breeze through every mission just to find out what the last part of it is. IMO, the very satisfying parts of the game get overshadowed by the ever present repetition of how you carry out assassination assignments. You can attempt to do things differently but sometimes it isn't really worth fussing over. It could have been a really great game in my book, but I just couldn't bring myself to overlook the repetitiveness.

The controls are beyond frustrating. No custimization at all, no mouse support, the game doesn't even tell you the control scheme and which functions are mapped to which keys. PTMags

Wow. I dont know what to say to this. I mean, I remapped the keys to a PS1 dual shock controller and I even tried using the mouse and keyboard to play. I was able to find out what button does what since I went into the "settings" screen and took the time to look and read stuff.

My only gripe is that there is no tutorial w/c is standard fare for JRPGs. I'm sure the retail version will have the standard lenghty tutorial at the beginning w/c I hope can be skipped if the player chooses to.

That is just the biggest, crappiest & the most utterly ridiculous thing I have ever heard. This imposition on paying customers is just the most moronic thing I have ever heard from a legit company doing legit business with legit customers. What makes it even worse is that all the pirates out there who have pirated EA games, don't ever have to deal with that kind of crap. As long as they are careful with their bootleg copies, they can keep playing and reinstalling their stolen games. They're all probably laughing their pants off. Oh well......

Well, piracy has been around for as long as I can remember (29 year old gamer here) and I find it quite puzzling that only in recent years have game publishers resorted to DRM software included in games. They're not very good measures though since it proves to be more of an inconvenience to actual paying customers. I guess some publishers would rather attempt to do something to protect their games rather than just take things lying down however futile it may be. I mean, Dawn of War 2 just came out and no less than a day later, the torrents are all filled up with seeders and leechers getting their hands on a cracked Dawn of War 2 and playing it to completion (SP campaign). What to do, what to do? Hmmm.......

There is no drunken camera bug unless you're using a pirated or cracked version of the game. Obviously a crack used before the patch will probably not work if you patch it to the new update.

Even if the game is your standard linear FPS game, the story is really well-written and through the scripted events, it's well presented as well. Sound and voice acting are top-notch w/c furthers the immersion of the player into the story. People play games to have fun and in some cases, they play to escape into a different reality. HL2 presents not just a different reality, but a fun and believable one that any gamer can enjoy and escape into. I can't wait for Episode 3.
