What are the exact specs of your laptop? For now I'm gonna make a guess and say that your integrated video card isn't good enough for any sort of decent 3d-gaming. You did get it right when you said Vista doesn't make games like run crap. That's assuming your Vista OS is updated. In any case, post more specific specs and I'm sure more comments (helpful ones hopefully) will flow in.
EDIT: Meant to say your integrated vid card isn't good enough. :)

I don't know what you're used to, but the controls aren't good by my standards. The guy moves like a machine too! I can barely turn when I'm walking. I played with the mouse sensitivity and got slightly better response, but not nearly good enough. I do have to thank the earlier poster who suggested turning VSYNC off, as that did make the mouse control slightly more fluid, but I still feel like I'm in a straightjacket just trying to look around.
The V-sync "remedy" is very useful, but it puzzles my mind why it even has to be done. Though people will say that Isaac moves in a not-so-agile manner due to his suit, I have no problems with his mobility. Sure he's slow, but i think it would be just wrong if he could "bunny-hop" all over the place. Overall, I enjoyed the game but IMO, it's not really worth a second playthrough. Still gets an 8/10 from me.
Hey all,
As I was installing the game, I kept getting delayed write errors over and over again. I simply ignored them, but as the update was being applied these write errors became more frequent and my PC crashed, so I forced a reboot.

Well, those "delayed write" errors are most probably a symptom of the source of the problem. It's hard to tell what the source could be since it's possible that the install files are corrupted or it's possible that a hardware problem has surfaced. I used to have trouble installing games on my PC due to defective RAM. The error would usually occur when installing something big like a game but installing a smaller program yielded no problems. What can I say? PCs and their seemingly infinite number of quirks! *Sigh*
