@mogan: yeah not counting skippable cutscenes because i skip them all. Very few modern games with a decent story.

FF7r had slow walking dialogue and other useless things that slowed you down and it was obviously the purpose of it.

And it is kind of part and parcel for the entire genre. Read some fantasy books. Always some kind of campfire scene with a bunch of banter and useless chit chat to fill the pages. Eddings did it way too much but still loved his books.

That is why i have not interest in generic game stories. I have read about every fantasy book on the planet. Kind of hard for a game story to impress me.

@xultima226: Difference between story and worthless fillers that have nothing to do with the story.

And no Rpg is not about story. It is about loot. It is about equipment and character progression. It is about playing a Role.

And if Rpgs all about story then why is 90 percent of rpgs about a character that lost their memories or kids from a small village out to save the world. Very few new stories in games these days. And the ones with story like Last of Us have garbage slow paced generic gameplay.

Also i been playing Rpgs since the 70s. I started on a government computer playing a text based game called Mystery mansion in Fort Myers florida where my dad worked at Ford Aerospace,

It is a text based DnD type game except it was monsters like vampires and werewolves. Also played action but it was not a game was the ataphs laser guiding system on a cobra helicopter.

Never table top DnD was never my thing but in video game rpgs you do not get more old school nerd than me.

@mogan: exactly why no matter how hard I try BG3 was a waste of 70 dollars. Because I can absolutely not play it. Tried many times.

And even though I did not get far in bg3 the dialogue and talking in BG3 has a purpose. Without some online guide you would be totally clueless on what to do in the game without it.

In FF7r and most Rpgs the dialogue and cutscenes have nothing to do with gameplay. Go play ff15. Tell me what those campfire chats with the Backstreet boys cast of characters have to do with the game. Heck even with the story they just senseless banter about nonsense.

@Berserk8989: Funny because I have 44 hours total played showing right here on my ps5 in ff7r. And I have platinum trophy. Guess I should believe you and some website instead of my own eyes right?

And after that crybaby rant you really going to call me the drama queen? Really?

And how many hours of that 44 was slow walking while Aeris was running her mouth? How many cutscenes or dialogue that was intentionally put in the game for no other reason to extend the non existent playtime?

All those playtime numbers are way off and always have been.

@aaronlav: You took 40 hours to clear ff7r even doing every side quest you was afk for 20 hours.

But I am talking about actual gameplay. 6 to 8 hours if you took out all the garbage story dialogue and slow walking stuff.

And 2nd playthrough for platinum was twice as easy and fast as the first one.

So the devs claimed FF7r was 20. And if you removed cutscenes/dialogue slow walking it was actually about 6-8. So Rebirth is 20 tops got it.

@mogan: I would say cable the bigger hassle. Because either you dealing with one of the most annoying worthless people on the planet twice a year(cable customer service) or they just keep jacking up your prices till you paying 300-400 dollars a month.

No clue how cable company practices are even legal.

Think he is saying that nerdy Marvel fans would not know what good acting was if it bit them in the ....

Cant say that he is wrong. But he not exactly a great actor either. I mean he is ok but he is more like a Ryan Reynolds typecast type not some kind of artist like a Harrison Ford or Jack Nicholson.

Depends. Nothing in the modern era is even close though that is for sure.

Id say the late 90s and early 2000s were the golden age of online pc games. Consoles peaked around the same time.

Pretty much early 2000s games started their turn from arts and entertainment into business models. The big guys started gobbling up and ruining everything.

And of course in online gaming the big hardcore vs casual war of the mid 2000s the hardcore players lost badly and the entire gaming world has had to endure things like FTP and diablo 3 because of it.

80s was good too except for the fact you had to game from your closet. Because you did it out in the open you got beat up for it.

And because your time was split because the late 70s and 80s was definitely the golden era of epic movies and music before the boybands and people like Leonardo Decaprio and Brad pitt became our action heroes.

Isn't this the game that just bombed their beta so bad they shut down the game entirely?
