Two Years of Gamespotting (plus Holiday Wish List)

I'm a little late on this, but November 13 marked my two year anniversary on Gamespot :). 200 posts, 150 reviews, and many new friends. I am glad to be a part of this site (most of the time at least) and be able to discuss various gaming crap (even if I don't come around as often as I used to). Within these two years I have been improving upon my reviewing skills (too bad I can't revise my older stuff for some reason) and discovering great new games.

Speaking of which, it is getting closer to Christmas (man, this year has gone by fast). That means it's time for me to think of games I am anticipating on getting. Whether the games are current or old school, I want to add as many of these games to my ever growing collection:

.Batman: Arkham City

.Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

.Rayman Orgins

.Nintendo 3DS handheld

.Star Fox 64 3D

.Ocarina of Time 3D

.Shinobi (3DS)

.Resonance of Fate

.Sonic Generations (3DS)

.Sega Genesis (with all of the Sonic games)

Unfortunately, due to financial situations, this is going to be my most skimmed down Christmas, so I won't be able to get many of these games (at least at one time). However, that really doesn't bother me in the slightest (besides, I wouldn't have time to play each one if I got them all at one time). I am making sure that I make the most of this holiday season since this will most likely be my last one before I head off to college next year.

Let me know what you guys are looking forward to getting the most.

Some songs from Sonic Generations

I bet you are getting pretty sick of me raving about SG by now :P. Well too bad, we still have a few days and I am not getting any less excited. Tons of stuff have been leaked in the past few days, including the reveal of Time Eater (which I accidentally spoiled for myself, but I don't really regret it). But rather than spoil that I will let you guys listen to some of my favorite leaked soundtracks from the game in no particular order:

IGN shows off Sonic Generations (Modern Crisis City and Perfect Chaos FTW)

Very recently, two of the IGN reviewers for Sonic Generations just showed off an hour long livestream of Sonic Generations. It was a shame that the footage wasn't directly recorded with a capture program, so the quality of the gameplay was extremely blurry. Regardless, it was at least clear enough for us to see. They showed off a few of the Classic Sonic side missions, as well as Modern Chemical Plant and Classic Speed Highway. But perhaps the biggest and best surprises (and spoilers) were the Perfect Chaos boss battle and Modern Crisis City.

I won't spoil too much here. For Perfect Chaos, the battle not only looks exciting, but the inner fanboy in me truly went giddy with joy when it started playing an amazing Open Your Heart remix. As for Crisis City.....this is what it should have been from the beginning. Not only is the music great, but this is certainly the most platforming-heavy of the stages I have seen so far. It is good to see that it's no longer "Boost to Win" like in HD Unleashed and there is a heavier focus on 3-D platforming rather than mostly 2-D like in Sonic Colors.

I kind of regret spoiling these, but I simply couldn't resist seeing 06 done right and Perfect Chaos looking more awesome. Just five more days guys.

New Sonic Generations Demo + Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One

At last, we were finally given a new and more polished demo of Sonic Generations. This time it featured both Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic. I definitely wanted to try my hands at Modern Sonic more than anything, and needless to say I am FAR from disappointed. Modern Sonic took the best of HD Unleashed/Colors and improved upon its core mechanics, namely in control. HD Unleashed/Colors featured some stiff controls, but this time around the control is much smoother, whether you are boosting away or running normally. Green Hill itself is a rather linear stage, but it's forgivable considering it's the first level and it allows you to get used to the controls. Classic Sonic's control and physics are a little more refined as well and it is still a blast to speed through.

Along with the SG demo I also spent a good few hours with my friend playing the latest Ratchet and Clank adventure. So far, I am having a lot of fun. The game is definitely meant for cooperative play, so be sure to grab friends. The levels are beautiful and full of variety, the action is satisfying, puzzles are creative, and the weapon selection is great. The series' trademark humor is kept in tact and voice acting is superb.

It was definitely a good day. Unfortunately, now that I am back home with no internet support for my Xbox, I am unable to play the demo unless I go back to my friend's house. Oh well, it's only 13 more days.....

Oh, and here is an awesome ending meledy for SG (SPOILERS).
