i wish the people could really understand what im talking about you had to be there mplayer.com closed down in 2001 gamespy bought them out and shut down the service and kept their inferior service up and tried to get mplayer users to move to gamespy arcade but they didnt seems like pc gaming kinda died after that no joke. nobody moved to gamespy seemed everyone was like no mplayer **** i aint playing games online anymore. Developers should use mplayer.com's set up foreal, ok you enter quake lobby and everyone in the world using the service in mplayer.com lobby can text chat at the sametime WHY THE **** CANT YOU ON CONSOLES? plus above there was a box showing game/rooms people created you could join and chat/voice chat/cam.

[QUOTE="gamesrdead4200"][QUOTE="MortalDecay"] Oh, I don't know...Why didn't Sony come up with PSN before Live? Why didn't they come up with Trophies before achievements? So many questions, so little answers...MortalDecay
ps2 was online in august 2002 officially but you could play online before that with usb modem and tony hawk proskater 3. xbox live didnt launch untill november 2002 lol

Sure, the PS2 was able to play games online, so was the SNES, and Genesis. I am talking about Live. Live is more than just playing online. An online community that Sony was more than happy to copy.

Read this Each game on supported on mplayer had a lobby, where you could text chat with everyone in same game lobby as you plus instant message them then you make a room and text/voice chat in there also supported cam, but you set up ur games level/gametype and click launch and game would launch and it would be running from mplayers.com's highspeed servers and people in the lobby could see ur room and join the game in progess or people could just be sitting in the room chatting. everyone who had the same game as you could chat at the sametime XBOX LIVE AND PLAYSTATION ONLINE SET UP'S ARE TOTAL FAILURE.

[QUOTE="falconclan"]

[QUOTE="Buster_Highman"] Just go away, your thread is full of fail.

XanderZane

If the thread is "full of fail", why do you continue to post comments in it? Sony does like to copy others. They got a lot of ideas from Nintendo (rumble, analog, , d-pad, etc..)

xbox live's nothing but a watered down mplayer.com pretty much copy off.gamesrdead4200

Can't afford it huh?

Microsoft has millions of subscribers, so they must be doing something right.

LOL xbox live sucks MPlayer, referred to as MPlayer.com by 1998, was a free online PC gaming service and community that operated from late 1996 until early 2001. The service at its peak was host to a community of more than 20 million visitors each month and offered more than 100 games Some of the more popular titles available were action games like Quake, Command & Conquer, and Rogue Spear, as well as classic card and board for casual gamers
