jumping is not the whole aspect of platformers. Platformers involve a plethora of things that weave themselves together to make a full game experience. True sometimes you need to jump but other then in the 2D platformers that is not a key part of the gaming experience.

people always got adventure and platformers mixed up back in the day and yall are doing it now.
Platforming is not dead, it is simply evolving and branching out into its own entire region of gaming with games like the new PoP, Little Big Planet and Nuts and Bolts. and calling mario galaxy simple is like calling mario 64 and Mario sunshine to simple, (which ftr they arent.)

Thanks for reestablishing a fact we already knew.
banjo didnt have difficult jumps there for it's not a platformer.
Then how can you pass judgement on gaming's overall quality?

rpg and rts/sports games might aswell stop being made lol they dont exist to me pisses me off coming onto gamespot and it's nothing but lame ass rts/rpg games.
The question doesn't bring into account which genres you do and do not like.
i pass judgement because i kick anyones ass at their own genre.
Timing and difficult jumps don't define platformers. The simple act of platforming and progression through a stage to a goal in which obstacles are over come does. Difficulty or quality are not relevant.
