chrome is amazing for my netbook; uses the least sysem resources (unless you have a bunch of tabs open) and takes up less vertical space with the ui.

but i still have to keep ie to watch house and scrubs :(

I immediately stopped reading upon coming across Willits' quote about doing away with gore and going with the T-rating.

id Software has truly fallen to the bottom and completely forgotten their roots. Not that it's surprising, but I'm ashamed to have even had faith in them following the cest pool that was Doom 3.

THA-TODD-BEAST
less blood and gore is seriously deviating so far from id's 'roots' that you cant even stand to hear about the game anymore? christ, how do you justify playing any other games if you have such specific requirements? imagine if the game was really good in it's own way. that would just be a TERRIBLE thing.

also, its not really relevant to desktops, but ssd drives are more resistant to breaking or memory loss due to physical abuse because of their lack of moving parts. clumsy people with laptops might find that to be an advantage.

christ people, quit whining about not being able to play crysis at total maxed settings. the point of crysis was that when it came out it looked as good on medium settings as other games looked on full, and that as the average computer got better crysis' graphics would stay relevant. most computers could run the game when it came out, but all the people who couldnt run it on full settings had to whine and nurse their bruised geek egos just because they couldnt run the game at settings that were intended for several years into the freaking future. the devs even gave it a name--future proofing. i ran it on low settings smoothly and had fun because it is a GOOD GAME. crytech made an engine that would maintain its value and all people do is complain.

To everyone who says pc gaming will "die": don't be stupid. As long as the pc exists and as long as people want to play games, publishers and devs will make pc games. There would have to be a disease that caused people to not want to play games or something, because as long as there is demand someone will want to make money off of it. It is absolutely impossible that publishers could ignore an entire market.

Certainly, pc gaming is less prominent than it once was as a fraction of the gaming market. It's getting less AAA exclusives and whatnot, but that is also causing the pc to change and explore new things--episodic gaming and indie games have proliferated recently and its causing some fairly interesting new ideas.

Bottom line, you can argue that pc gaming is declining, but it's absolutely ignorant to say that it's going to die. Personally, I just think its changing, and whether for better or worse is yet to be seen.
