So they basically made a portable Wii U. Lets call it the Wii 3 or Super Wii U Go (that would be very Japanese). Let see, $300 for the system, $70 for the pro controller, $60 for the games? That's around $430 for a starter system. That's PS4 pro territory. PS4 and Xbone was about $200 during the holidays with sales and free gift cards. its $300 today for a bundle. However they are always on sale some where.
Specs and price aside. That leaves the games. Don't really care about those motion control games. Zelda looks like fun and there is Mario. Which doesn't come out and launch.
it will all depend on sales number. if the switch sells close or out sells the ps4 and xbox1, 3rd party developers will game a lot of games for it. It will all depend on market sure. Nintendo will create a fake shortage to build up hype like they also do. That will hurt the switch more then being the weaker console.
I like handhelds. So I will buy one depending on the games. As long as the games are NOT Mario, Zelda, Metroid, or any kiddy Nintendo IPs. Having care about there IPs since the 80s.
Between the pending death of the Wii U, shortage of the mini NES and 3ds Mario editions, lack of information about the upcoming Switch. Looks like a pretty bad Holiday for Nintendo. Also they decide to only release this game on Iphone is a mistake. They are shorting themselves on market share. Now the cat is out of the bag, don't expect it will not do well on android.
Seriously Nintendo, your marketing and business departments are completely out of touch with today's markets. You just can't continue to remade different versions for your IPs and expect to grow.
Would the Switch be able to bail them out? Perhaps if there were no shortages with strong launch titles. Well we all know how that will be.
