This is a great idea! I am very interested in contributing interesting articles and interview peices relating to legacy gaming.

For more name ideas:Legacy GamingMagazine -Bequest Magazine - (Bequest is an synonym for legacy or heritage - and it sounds "video-gamey")

I never played the second one, however I did play the first one and I do remember enjoying it despite the fact that I played it on the PS2 which had inferior graphics compared to the XBOX and especially PC versions of the game. I recall there being moments where you had to take painkillers for energy and instances where you would be in shootouts in these dingy hotels with addicts laying on the floor, graffiti written on the walls etc. That always stook out to me and had an impression upon me at a young age.

I'll play the second one someday though since I have heard it's a good game and supposedly there is a third game on the horizon as well.

Both of the PS2 versions are pretty bad ports. They're both ugly with low frame rates. If you have a chance to play the Xbox or PC versions, they're far superior.

But either way, Max Payne 2 is probably the best.

Thanks! I going to grab the xbox version of The Fall of Max Payne. After comparing gameplay vids, "the fall" does look better.

Which title is it? The availability of other copies is one of your most pertinent questions to answer. The next question I would have for you, is if it's damage done to the disc post-release (a scratch or other PHYSICAL scarring of the surface), or if it's a discoloration/ deterioration of the aluminum compound that's encased IN the plastic.

Physical damage can be repaired. I've seen some amazing resurfacing done on discs recently - I had a copy of "The Punisher" that had a DEEP circular scar all the way around it like someone had used a can opener on it, and my local resale shop put it in their handy-dandy $4000 disc repair machine, and now it's like new. The clerk told me they can do the same for any kind of disc, GameCube included.

Need their website?

:)

thanks, i didnt think of taking the game back to the store to have them clean it for me. Then again if they didnt get it the first time i might just as well test my luck with it and buy one of those bottles of liquid disc repair which i have not tested before. It is about $4-$5 at game stores.

i have a thin white-ish streak/scratch/smudge of some sort across a gamecube disc i just picked up. the first time i played the game, it booted up fine, played for a little while and nothing went wrong. i booted the game up for the second time and the screen said "disc could not be read". I took the game out, put it back immediately, and it worked. I am basically just wondering if anyone else has a similar blemish on any of their discs and whether there is a remedy for this, is it not a good disc, or will it hold up? I picked up the game at a pawn shop and am not looking forward to having to take it back in to exchange for a different, inferior game. Let me know what you think i should do with this one. thank you in advance!
