Both have great games, (most so-called "exlusive" games for the 360 are on the PC as well), so in that area it is a subjective opinion on which system you should get. However, there are certain undisbutable facts which in reality make this a very easy decision for you. Not all of them are big deals, but taken together it adds up to a no brainer.

Which system can you play online out of the box?

PS3. To do so with the 360 requires a $50 annual payment and a $100 wifi adapter.

Which system runs quiter?

PS3. Not even a close comparison. The 360 has a loud fan and in a quiet room is quite noticeable and annoying.

Which system is more reliable?

PS3. Again, not even close. The infamous Red Ring of Death causes at least a 16% (most likely higher) failure rate.

Which system also functions as the next standard in HD movies?

PS3. Blu-ray. Nuff said.

Which system has a built in, EASILY upgradeable hard drive?

PS3. Took me all of five minutes to put in a 2.5" SATA 320GB drive in mine.

Which system has a better online community?

360. No comparison. Once "Home" and XMB are released, that will eventually change.

There you have it. Seriously, anyone who looks at the reasons give above and buys a 360 is lacking in the decision making department, unless you just gotta have HALO 3 and don't mind wondering at what moment your 360 will RROD on you.

Dumbest thread of the week winner, hands down. "Damn, I can't play Bioshock on my PC because it is an exclusive title for the 360". Whoever the moron is that started this thread needs to realize that PC's are a gaming platform, just like a console. PC's have way more exclusive titles than the 360, and if one of them should get ported to the 360, it is no longer exclusive.

If you have a decent gaming PC, there is zero reason for getting a 360. Zero. The best 360 games are out or are coming out on the PC, and online is free. Not to mention if you buy a 360 you will get the opportunity to experience RROD at some point in your future.

But not nearly as desparate as MS paying Rockstar $50 million for downloadable content in the future, right?

Look. It's called marketing. Sony is in the business of making money and this is a great way to do it. If it offends you or strikes you as desparate, then that's your problem. And yes, you do have a problem. It's called fanboyism. When you are old enough have your dad explain the basics of economics to you so you don't post stupid threads like this.

I'd love to get a 360 to play the RPG's that are coming out for it, but until MS fixes the RROD problem I can't see myself doing it. PS3 exclusives will keep me busy anyway. It's a good time to have a PS3, especially when home FINALLY hits.

I'm a PC gamer that decided to take the plunge into the world of console gaming, but wanted to make sure I made the right decision as there was no way I was going to invest into two different systems. For me it all boiled down to reliablity and after owning and playing on my PS3 for a month now, I am more convinced than ever that the getting the PS3 is a no brainer. I really don't understand why, after looking at the facts, anyone would continue to support Microsoft's Xbox360 when they put out a product with at least a 16% failure rate. Imagine a car manufacturer selling cars that had a 16% failure rate (as in total failure, not just a minor flaw). That company would go out of business immediately, but here we have people continuing to buy a product that is known to be defective and while it does have it's strong points ( several great exclusive games and a good online aspect), it's competition puts out a vastly superior product (bluray, built in wifi, upgradeagble HD, free online, quiet, reliable, great exclusive games) for the same price. I really don't get it and I realize the 360 fanboys will disagree but they really have no choice as they have a lot of money invested in their games and in their system so it would be ecomically difficult for them to turn their back on a system they are emotionally attached to. I wish no ill will on the 360 but take a step back and look at what the TC is saying and it just makes sense.

If you don't get a PS3, you will be missing out on a lot of great games coming out this year. Whatever. Your loss.

I view the console wars kinda like the automotive war. Microsoft is Ford - putting out a product that looks good on paper but when you look under the hood you find that it is really a pile of crap. Any company that puts out a product that has a 16% failure rate deserves to be shunned by all consumers, but because millions bought this system before the reliability problem reared it's head and games for it were bought, people are stuck with defending it and have no choice but to repair it and wait for it to break again. Sony is Toyota - taking the extra time to make sure it's well built with many features included but costing a little more. It's more complicated and designing games for it is more challenging, but due to it's superior capablility and reliablity, it will prove to be the smart choice in the long run. Five years from now when 360's are still breaking down, blu ray movies are as cheap and as readily available as DVDs, and game companies are making exclusive games only for the PS3 (not because they want to, but because they have to due to the limiting nature of the 360), we will look back on this time and wonder why the heck anyone would have been dumb enough to buy a 360 in 2008. Mark my words.

Only 16% of 360's are dead at any given time. If your's is still alive, be patient - it will die eventually.

My PS3 has never broken and most likely never will. Thankfully I did my research before deciding which console to get (I'm a PC gamer at heart), and after reading threads like this I was like "what the hell?". Then I discovered the 360 was louder than a vaccuum cleaner (I exagerate, but you get the idea), didn't come with a built in, upgradeable HD, didn't have built in WiFi, costs $50 a year to use it's online content, didn't have blu ray, and just about every game on the 360 is out or is coming out on the PC. Now I'm getting used to relaxing on my sofa playing MLB 08 on my ugraded, 320GB PS3 and looking foward to all the great exclusive games coming out this year. Ahhhh...... life is good for this PS3 fanboy, and the best thing is I don't have to stress about when, not if, my 360 will kick the bucket! You guys should have learned when your first one broke on you. Get a decent PC and a PS3 and you will know the meaning of contentment.
