reconsider it again, dont factor in anthing but this question:

"Which console has/ will have the games I want?"

Smuggiebear

I have to factor in the other things because they matter to me: reliability, fan noise, etc etc. I do want the console that plays the games I want, but I figure between my PC and the PS3, there really won't be many out there that I won't be able to play. What really sealed the deal for me was hearing that Mass Effect was coming out on the PC. I am very interested in this game and it was bumming me out that I wasn't going to be able to play it, but that's not a factor now. I'm wondering if most 360 games will now be coming out on the PC as well? Also, I want my gaming console to be used for other things as well, which is why the blu ray player is important.

[QUOTE="jdt532"]Good choice buying a PS3 man and I recommend buying Uncharted Drakes Fortune, Ratchet & Clank Future (unless you think it's too "kiddie") and Resistance: Fall Of Man. Also just ignore all the ignorant fan-boys bashing your topic, they are just upset you didn't pledge allegiance to their console of choice.u8muhrice

Yeah, I think I'm making the right choice as well. I'm just not sure whether I should take the plunge now or wait and see if a new model will be coming out soon. As far as the kids are concerned, I sorta anticipated that. Doesn't bother me as I am aware of the level of immaturity that exists here.

If I were you, I would get one now.. Sony is closing the $400 model and making a 120 gb one.. which i assume might be 600 or more now.. its a bad move on Sony's part. They are getting more people to buy it with the sudden price drop.. they need to continue it.

If I were you, get the 400 dollar one before its too late and then pay 100 dollars for a 200gb drive to plug it in

Thanks for the advice.

It seems that the only reason people are getting PS3's is for the cheap Blu-Ray player... Be honest, there are no great games out for the PS3, and the ones that are great (COD4, Oblivion, Rainbow Six, etc. for ex.) are better on the 360.

Future expandability?? Games are selling like crap on the PS3, yet are sky-rocketing on the 360. This will scare developers away from the console, not lure them in!

krp008

Blu ray is one of the reasons Im getting it, to be sure. As far as the games are concerned, not having either system I have to rely on reviews, videos, etc and what I've seen the 360 does do better with the games so far. However, I also believe that over time game developers will be better at utilizing the more complicated PS3 architecture and this will be reflected in the games they make. As far as the games you listed, I already have them on my PC so won't be getting them for the PS3.

A PS3. I'm not posting this on here to start a flame war. I just want to go through my reasoning process and get feedback from anyone who sees a flaw in my logic.

First of all, the last console I owned was an Intellivision, so that probably gives you an idea of how long I've been out of the console loop. I've been playing PC games exclusively but just recently bought a 40" LCD TV and want to enjoy gaming on a big screen.

The reason I've settled on a PS3 comes down to:

A: Reliability. If there's one thing that bugs the crap out of me is having to worry about something breaking down, and I've heard way to many cases where people have had multiple RROD problems. If it is not an issue anymore, than that would be a huge factor, but from what I've heard it's still an issue. Not going to put up with it.

B: Blu Ray. What can I say? It's the future and will be the industry standard for many years.

C: Fan noise. Ok, probably not a big deal to most people, but like a dripping faucet, **** like that bugs the hell out of me and I don't want to have to always ignore it.

D.Compatibility with my PSP. Not sure how much of a factor this is, but I'm used to the menu system on my PSP and like that it can interact with the PS3

E: Future expandability. It seem the potential for PS3 is greater than the 360. I understand the game library is as great right now and that developers have a harder time coding games to utilize the full potential of the PS3, but I have to believe over time this will change. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I'm betting. I also realize that the 360 has a much better online community, but honestly that isn't a big factor for me.

So there's my list of reasons. Please don't flame me as I know this is a sensitive issue - I just want to make the best decision and I'm looking for constructive feedback from owners of either system, or both for that matter.

Also, what SKU of PS3 would you recommend? I want the one that will run the coolest - not so much concerned with BC or disk space.
