thank you for a respectable post. i'm glad u don't see me as some villian who wants to bash the 360.It is a wonder, platform games appeal to the younger gamer, im surprised there isnt a lot.

it all just opinion we just do not agree on what is good. you favor a splosion man which i own a found to be mediocre at best and i just played super meatboy on y3.com for free. its cool but not the best platformer I played this gen. lbp and smg make it look like the 8 bit game it is. and it FREE how much did you pay for it?

So I read over a few of your posts in this thread, including this one of course. Would it be safe for me to assume that gameplay is probably your lowest priority when judging a games quality?
i hold gameplay in high redards, as well as audio, graphics, art, production values, developer's passion, intent, scope, vision, etc in high regards. if u think a free flash game on y3.com is the best platformer that u have offer then i question what aspect of a game do u hold in high redards. i appreciate gameplay, hence me yearning for platformers on the 360 console. sometimes u want to play a game that doesn't have crosshairs. it's sad that everytime someone critiques a console in hopes of enhancing the sentiment of such, they're of being a troll or bashing the system. ridiculous.[QUOTE="Funconsole"]

i appreciate all three systems. i should since I own a wii, 360, and ps3. i'm currently at a friend's house watching him play ratchet and clank, and it suddenly struck me that the 360 doesn't have any platforming franchises. banjo nuts and bolts isn't really a platformer, so we'll exclude this game. my question is, why don't 360 owners demand platforming experiences? i find it a little troubling that the 360 doesn't offer this genre of gaming.

You really think people are gonna believe this? If you're at a friend's house like you claim, shouldn't you be playing with him instead of posting a thread on SW bashing the 360?
Besides there are quite a few outstanding ones on XBLA including:
Super Meat Boy
Limbo
Splosion Man
Shadow Complex
^And these are just off the top of my head
these aer my FULL DISC BASED RETAIL GAMES:
sly cooper HD1
Ratchet and clank tod
Sly cooper HD 2
Little big planet 1
Sly cooper HD 3
Ratchet and Clank ACit
Little big planet 2
thats 7 disc based games
my psn games I own
Splosion Man
Ratchet and Clank QfB
Monsters Styole my princess
pixel junk eden
just to name a few.
thats a lot more than you named
btw wikipedia defined lbp the game you refuse to acknowledge as a platformer they call it a platformer.
nobody's bashing the 360. since u do not believe me, or for anybody else who thinks i'm lying about me owning an xbox 360. MY GAMERTAG IS blissFOREVER. hit me up, and i'll accept u. we can then talk about this over live. by the way, what's ur gamerscore...it all just opinion we just do not agree on what is good. you favor a splosion man which i own a found to be mediocre at best and i just played super meatboy on y3.com for free. its cool but not the best platformer I played this gen. lbp and smg make it look like the 8 bit game it is. and it FREE how much did you pay for it?

Your question gets answered then you change the basis of your question. This whole thread is complete ownage.
ok, i got a better i'll answer it myself. the first part of my question asks why doesn't the 360 have any platformers? the answer is because developers and publishers invest money where they know they will see a return on their investment. evidently, publishers, including microsoft, does not feel that it's viable to produce disc based platformers for the 360. i stress disc based, because of the amount of money that goes into the production of such entities. the reason that companies don't feel it's viable to produce platformers for the 360, is partially due to the purchasing habits of the 360 owners. ninty made two super mario galaxies, why, because they knew that they could sell the product. sony made two lbps, why, because they knew that the product would sell. microsoft made kameo, and abandoned platformers entirely. the irony they bought a company that was known to make platformers.the second part of my question asks why don't 360 owners care. the reason 360 owners don't care is because they feel that the 360 doesn't need platformers. if u want a platformer, buy a wii. also, because microsoft has shifted it's focus from last gen. it has become the "pop system" of gaming. it's not an insult, but it's true. since the "pop culture" demands militarey style shooters, and mega violence, that what the 360 gets, whereas sony and ninty have these games too, but add a little more variety to their arrays. i appreciate and like all 3 systems, however it would be nice to have a banjo or conker on the 360. do u realize how divine that would be?
i never said you didnt have a 360 :? guess my point went over ur head...[QUOTE="LucidJubilation"][QUOTE="godsendBLISS"]i going to say this one last time, I AM A 360 OWNER, my gamertag is blissFOREVER. check it out. i'm not a cow, though my psn id is uberbliss, check that out to. i game man, no fanboyism, just the real.

no i'm mad because instead of answering my question, i have to read posts like that.:|file size has to do with scope and content, not quality. once again ur iplying that i'm attempting to bash a game. what systems do u own? i'm curious.[QUOTE="godsendBLISS"]

I'm not sure about you discrediting games as I haven't read the entire thread, but yes I will discredit Ratchet and LBP in terms of platforming. LBP is a unique game with cool community features and the whole play, create, share gamepaly really took off. As a pure platormer? No, it would be garbage. Same with Ratchet. I enjoy the Ratchet games quite a bit. But again, the fun factor I got from the Ratchet series had little to do with its platforming elements.
You can reference MC and GR all you like, but I doubt you'll find many (if any) reviews that give glowing praise to the platforming mechanics in those games. They are fun games that happen to have platforming in them. That doesn't make them strong platformers.
As for your Gears reference, I have no idea what overall file size has to do with quality game design. If a platformer is great then it is great. End of story. It doesnt need to be 8 gigs minimum printed on a disc and have a huge marketing campaign to get my appreciation.

Systems in ma sig. Dont see what it has to do with anything, especially since I'm not siding with any system here lol.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding your last post, but you made it seem as if a game having a smaller file size has something to do with overall quality. If not, then what do you mean by that exactly?
nothing. like i said, i'm just curious. scope and size. forget it man.same here the quality of exclusives this gen is incredible. multiplats are mostly played by mainstream gamer. pop culture stuff.About 90% on exclusives and 10% on multiplats

please quote me where i discredited any games. actually u guys are the ones discediting games, it's clearly in this quote. in regards to the disc point, forget it, u missing that point completely. i never said they were bad games because they were downloadable. in fact, i've never said they were bad games at all. what would say if the next gears game was a downloadable game at 1.2 gigs. get the point? oh and gamerankings and metacritic have something to say in regards to ratchet and clank and lbp.[QUOTE="godsendBLISS"]
[QUOTE="Karnage108"]
Exactly, and it's even worse when the TC is trying to discredit games like Super Meat Boy and Limbo which better represent the platformer genre than either of those ps3 games. All because they aren't on a disc
edit: actually, they ARE on disc http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/09/limbo-trials-hd-and-splosion-man-coming-to-retail-in-xbla-tripl/
