Wow, literally 100% the exact opposite of what I'd want Square Enix to be saying. However, I'm part of the old guard, and the AAA execs don't need us anymore, we can jump in a fucking lake. It's all about your little cousin and his pals, screaming down headsets, hammering away endlessly at games that just have addictive mechanics and presented as is, without any story or emotional motivation whatsoever. No beginning, middle or end. No pay-off. A regurgitated repetition of cold, heartless nonsense, accompanied by a glut of micro transactions, loot boxes and all that shit, often in front of a camera for the viewing pleasure of other hyper, adhd youngsters and their foolish parents' credit cards.
@darksynced: Too much Bethesda influence maybe? I know Mikami said before that the old days of making games were a lot like how indie games are made now - you discussed what game you'd like to make then you went and made it. These days in the AAA space it's all meetings full of people who don't need to be there. Mikami DEFINITELY wants to get into indie dev, and I've got a lot of respect for the guy.
Why can't they just leave it alone though. Terminator 2 was definitive, ahead of it's time and the perfect sequel. It had it all, and even ended on a good message. There is simply no need to do another Terminator movie. The "iconic" (real iconic not Ubisoft iconic) vision of Terminator was built absolutely wonderfully in the 80's and early 90's with the first two films. You are not going to beat that, or even equal it. Diminishing returns and all that.
@asnakeneverdies: I literally just made an account to like (and agree with) your comment. You forgot one thing though: the soundtrack. Listen to the original beautiful Tomb Raider soundtrack, then listen to this generic action movie stuff. :(
